Thanks for the imput and welcome guys, no silver is not an issue so that just leaves red or grey. Not a fan of white or black 300s. I have 5k ready to spend on a good one. definitely no imports as UK models preferred.

Quick question the red UK models, do they fade in colour or that would probably depend on how its been looked after. Thanks again.

Check the link I gave you... :)

Reds don't tend to fade too much as Nissan lacquered them from the factory.

Why no imports? Nothing wrong with an import at all. You'll likely find something in better condition.

Thanks Funkysi, that seems to be perfect, need investigate that further as no mention of FSH, slightly over my budget. do you think that's a fair price? or are manuals the better option.

You'll struggle to find a lower mileage UK car to be honest. I wouldn't be so concerned with FSH either. These cars are at the age where you can see how good it is just by looking over it. If it runs well, doesn't smoke, selects gears well, has no rust, dings, paint is in good condition and the interior isn't torn or worn out, then generally it's going to be a good-un. It's quite easy to spot a turd.

First thing Id always do is to then get the 120k service done on it.

Rust is the main issue on UK cars and is the most costly thing to put right. If you can find a UK car with no rust on it or signs of structural repair, then it's well worth investigating. Something like that would be ideal for a fellow Z enthusiast to look over with you.

Agreed 57k mileage is really super low for the year, general check and inspection of bodywork ,the drive, paperwork ,previous MOTs and engine should confirm that. Had a chat with the company based in Bedford who unfortunately seem to be the really not so friendly and pushy car dealer sales type..I will go by there tomorrow and have a look, see if they are flexible on the price if I like it. Will keep you all posted.

Just to chip in I seem to remember they bought that car for about half the price they are now advertising at.

They did get a proper bargain and that car is worth good money, but I suspect for the price they paid and the time they have sat on it that money would talk.

Best of luck in the search.

Overall I'd agree, although my side mirrors are very dull and the spoiler lacquer is peeling quite badly! Then again, a UK car wouldn't have been exposed to as much sunlight.

Thanks Pebkau, agree they probably bought for half the price and selling for double. They certainly got a bargain. Hopefully all the paperwork add up during my visit.

Private sell would of been preferred as you never quite know with these car dealers.

I first saw these cars in my early twenties and I was star struck like most people. Never owned one due to the cost factor at the time and with work overseas and everything, I just didn't have time to own one of these glorious machines. Now after 25 years later its time to purchase the car I have always wanted.

BTW is it true that the300zx front headlights were copied and purchased by Lamborghini for the Diablo.

Sure was. Lamborghini used them on their facelift Diablo. They have a small 'eyebrow' where the Nissan logo is.

They were also used on the R390

I though so and thanks for the confirmation.

300ZX, Mitsubishi Starion & 3000GT, RX7, BMW 840/850, Audi coupe, Lancia Delta, Porsche 968 they don't make cars like they use to. (300ZX the best :)

It sold just before I started looking seriously and I was busy lurking on here :shifty:

I think it was in Berkshire originally and had been owned by the same people for quite some time.

I know the guys were talking about it, someone might be able to find the thread which may have a link to the original ebay advert which gave quite a bit of info I think.

Thank you AndrewG , interesting read on the forum link and it seems that the car H949 CWS has been in storage for quite some time. Hopefully its a good one and looking forward to inspect this further tomorrow.

Kenley/Caterham your not far, hopefully we can meet up and show you this car if all goes well on the purchase.

Yes Pebkau ,previous owner owned for 18 years apparently, so it must have been well cared for hopefully. Can you remember the original asking price before the dealer snapped this up.?

Reaching here but I am going to say £3750

it was certainly below £4K

I was desperate for a manual, but it look so good I was tempted.

I have had a quick look but I can't find the original eBay link if I do find it I'll post it here for you mate:thumbup1:

Thanks Pebkau £3750 was an absolute steal, hopefully 5K can temp the dealer. Yes manual is more desirable but so few good UK made ones around now.

I never considered the imports due to cloth trim and some highly modified, I guess I prefer cars to be as original as possible. some imports had the seatbelt buckle attached to the car door when opening which put me off the imports.

I wouldn't let that put you off an import. There's plenty of trim options available, and only the earlier model years had door-mounted seat belts. Modification will be clearly indicated if you buy from an auction. In my experience, you'll find a nice, original car much easier in japan.
