I'm replacing my socketed ECU with a stock chip. The question is, which rotation should the chip be, like it's shown in the photo or the other way around?

 

I'm going to be trying to start the car soon and want there to the minimum number of possible things wrong hence not going for a trial and error approach.

It's just the protecting case it came in

The notch in the end of the chip matches the notch in the socket. So in your pic they are both orientated correctly.

Oh and if you get them the wrong way round it buggers the chip !
