Before I refit my refurbished Brembos, I want to clean up the brake pad rods, clips and springs as I don't think cleanliness were the concern of the brakes' last owner!! They're heavily coated in baked on carbon. Autosol removes a little, but I was wondering if there was a solution for dissolving it away.

I have tried Cola before anyone suggests that! lolimage.jpg

I would try oven cleaner....... Oven pride....... that always dissolves all the burnt on mess in my oven????

Pop parts in bag and agitate, then leave over night....?

When I say Agitate........ I don't mean tell the parts to avoid veilside body kits Si....... lol

Watching my Z disintegrate on my driveway!!!

I have a small ultrasonic cleaning bath that works great for this sort of thing.

If it's stainless I would clean it up with a wire wheel in a drill

Another product I use is fairy power spray ( basically oven cleaner) it is designed to remove burnt on carbon

ive cleaned them many times Simon...there stainless steel and come up a treat with a brillo pad in soapy water;)

If it really is carbon on there - caustic soda. Don't use it on anything aluminium !

Its not carbon..its brake pad material ,same stuff that you find a b1tch to remove from your wheels

Simon

Clensit will get it off, industrial toilet descaler. It is 13% hydrochloric acid. I have some at the lake.

We use it to clean the bottom of the boats.

I have just bought 25litres of 36% strength.

That will shift it.

Good for dissolving bodies too
