How do I remove the above safely please, and can I use 1 of the two horn buttons to activate my Nitrous systems ?

Not sure about doing it safely but I just unplugged mine then removed the cartridge.

did you remove any fuses Or disconnect the battery for a few hours before hand ?

no, I didn't but now I think about it you likely should disconnect the main battery to avoid any accidental static or discharges.

Under the latest MOT rules can you get a car passed that has had its airbag removed?

I removed mine 4 years ago and past every year since.

Im removing mine to enable me to feed a wire to the horn button, then it will be refitted

Make sure you don't cross the wires and so that when you hit the horn button it makes the airbag go off :stupid:.

AIRBAG WARNING LAMP DOES NOT ILLUMINATE = PASS WITH ADVISORY

Explains that then; I changed my clocks to a Nismo set and there is no airbag bulb.

The loopholes in an mot is quite surprising if u only know them. :biggrin:

All your wiring passes through the ribbon inside the cassette behind your steering wheel, u won't be able to add any wiring, you can of course just connect your horn wiring to the nitrous if you wish, but then u need to locate horn switch elsewhere so u may as well just locate the nitrous switch instead and leave the horn as is

 

Get a kick down switch from an auto on the accelerator pedal and wire that to activate nitrous at full bore! :clap:

PLEASE disconnect the battery for at least 15 minutes before you start removing the steering wheel! This gives the airbag capacitor chance to discharge.

 

If you don't, you run a very real risk of the airbag going off when you start moving the wheel!
