Well my car blew its turbo seals the other day so plumes of blue smoke, LOVELY! So taking it in the garage for a massive maintenance and upgrade session over the next few month.

So basically anywhere i can get the above in the UK? I can get it all from Z1 where i plan on getting other bits and pieces but import taxes will shaft me, and on apprentice wages right now so trying to save where i can (note that doesnt mean cheaping out on parts!)

Cheers mate!

Not done compression yet but will be doing once i get a tester. My original plan was always getting the 2554s so thought might as well now rather than spend more to rebuild then upgrade again later. Realise there's potential the rings/stem seals could be the culprit. Z1 gaskket set comes with new stem seals anyway, and heads will come off to do headgasket so can inspect rings then and replace if necessary

you wont even get to see the Rings with the heads off m8 ... only the condition of the bore but this will not tell you if the piston/rings are any good

True, its sunday and im not thinking straight haha. But there are no signs of blowby or worn rings, intake piping is clean, no misses, still pulls as well as it always has despite leaving a James Bond style smoke screen! (Not using it at all but had to use it today as had no other means of transport) But will get tested regardless and like i say the stem seals will be replaced (along with all other gaskets in the kit) for piece of mind.

Also like i said will be doing a compression test, and if it passes that will also do a leak down test to be sure everything is in an acceptable condition

Even with the taxes and postage it will still be cheaper to buy from America. Parts are extortionately expensive at times over here. Ordering little bits simply isn't cost effective but for larger orders Z1 is a great saving. You also won't find that turbo kit for sale over here. You can buy those turbos here of corse but you would have to create a kit to allow you to fit them. Oil feeds/returns to sort etc and I believe the front housing is a bit if a pita to convert, a gt2560 I think it's called off the too of my head is easier to convert. If you went that route though you would need to do lots of your own research.

Cool thanks for that. Had a feelin that might be the case, searches didnt bring up much for parts for the car, so yeah probably be for the best to stuck to Z1 or JWT kit turbo wise. Shame there isn't much in the way of upgrades available here for these cars

There is quite a lot of innovation happening right now behind the scenes. I'm devoting a fairly large chunk of my time to upgrade options for the Zed, alongside developing my Impreza.
