Like I say, I'm not guessing. I've got 12 years of receipts showing who did what. And also, like I say it doesn't matter, I am simply getting on with fixing her, that's why I've been quiet on here since buying her. I simply made a quick post suggesting that it's not that big a shame that zedworld no longer trade since I've seen some of their work.

I would also not think twice, Jeff was my first contact for the welding I've just had done, always did a first class job for me.

You may have a mountain of receipts for work that Zedworld have carried out on this car, but how can you be 100% sure that nobody else has had a play at any point...?

Very few traders here have a completely unblemished reputation, true - but by your own admission, you're basing your diatribe on receipts and what you can see for yourself. You cannot know for certain that no other person (be them a trader or the owner) has fiddled about behind the dash or under the carpet. I can't imagine many sellers wanting to openly admit to doing so if the standard was as poor as you say, but that doesn't mean it isn't possibly the case...

I have my own thoughts about your new Zed and the circumstances surrounding it's sale but, as I know nothing for certain, I'll keep my mouth shut.

Oh, and pay your £10 too - you've freeloaded enough now! ;)

That's true, though Dave hasn't said anything about anyone else working on it. All I can do is trust what he says, and fix what I find. :)

So if you contacted Jeff and he assured you that neither he nor his son were responsible, who would you trust then...?

My car's like a book. Easy to read. ALL mechanical and electrical work done by either Jimmer (Powerzed) or myself. :D

It's just a bit odd that I found things pretty much everywhere they've been. But nobody's going to admit to anything anyway no matter how many people I ask. All I'm bothered about is fixing it. :)

Fixed that for you :)

Now I don't normally chip in on these types of threads but in this case I feel I have to. I had my manual conversion done at Zedworld and paid a tidy sum for it too.

I can say that I too have been the victim of the twisted and taped wires situation when the Auto Manual bypass loom that they made subsequently fell apart and entangled itself in the front of my engine destroying all my ancillary belts, There were planty of other "issues" that im not going to go into here but needless to say I now take my car elsewhere for a reason.

I fully respect Jeff and his input and help to our club members, I have bought bits and pieces from him since, but as with any company you are only as good as the people you employ.

So before everyone jumps all over Dan in the defence of zedworld please remember its not an attack on Jeff personally only the results of some work emerging from his shop.

Thats fair enough Ian and I respect your comments mate. In a life time of work some jobs can go wrong but there you are and Jeff has retired on top of his game with a successful business behind him. Now lets move on and be prepared for new changes to Trading on the forum:thumbup1:

Thanks Ian, and people wonder why I haven't subscribed yet. :(

So your lack of subscription is all due to Zedworld...?

I can fully understand what Ian is saying, but there's a big difference between his first-hand knowledge and your second-hand knowledge. ;)

I've heard some people praise Jeff to the high heavens... I've heard others slate him beyond belief. All of those opinions have been based on first-hand dealings though. You're basing your slating on receipts and an unreasonably-cheap Zed, which I don't think is fair.

No, it's down to how I'm spoken to by some. Somehow I'm the bad guy for finding fault in someone's work. I couldn't care less who did the work on the car, if it's bad then it's bad. Too late to do anything about it other that put it right again. I just feel for Dave since she's set him back thousands over the years and I'm now doing the work again. I only made a short comment, since this place is a forum, a place for discussion, and I simply suggested there were better places to take your car.

Its your choice to Subscribe mate. In doing so you support the club and we can spend that money on making this place bigger and better plus pay out on big events and shows which is for all members registered and subscribed and you gain many updates on your membership. Dont feel that you have to Subscribe you have to want to subscribe to help the club and watch it grow.

It is a forum so you are free to speak your mind as other will do.

I think we should leave it there chaps

Yes there is no point in falling out over it we all have our views so let it go and realise I am right :tt2:

The problem for me is people's attitudes mate, they should all be happy I'm actually saving her, and seemingly to a better standard than at least some of the "reputable" traders. I don't think I should be getting grief for that, or my budget, or what price I bought my zed for, etc. This place should be about the cars, without the elitist bull. It's not as if these cars are hard to work on, yet it seems to be frowned upon that I'm doing it myself and keep finding issues caused by shoddy work.

Of course there are better places to take your car, seeing as Zedworld no longer exists

As for how you're spoken to on here by some people: I'm going to assume it's something to do with how you present yourself.

Firstly, you wanted a fire-breathing Zed for peanuts and told many people that their suggested budget for you was unrealistic because (and I'm paraphrasing here) "you could get much better and much faster cars for that money."

You cleverly said that on an enthusiasts' forum! Seriously, what sort of response did you expect?

So now you've found your dream (suspiciously cheap) car and, based on nothing other than the previous owner's word, you wade in claiming that Jeff is a complete cowboy!

So in your short time here, you've insulted a large handful of Z32 owners and lovers and probably the longest-established "specialist" in the country.

The beauty of a forum is that people are free to voice their opinions. You're entirely free to voice yours, Dan. But please don't get whiny about "how you're spoken to by some" just because we don't all share your opinion about Z32 values and opinions about Traders.

:thumbup1:

Guys like I said before its not an attack on Jeff . Only calling into question some of the work that has emerged from his shop. Can I suggest we stop this and get back to the OP'S subject. If you want to carry this on then either do it in a new thread or via pm if Dan subscribes that is.

If it doesn't matter who did the work on your zed and your happy to sort to your standards, why start the thread in the first place?. Also you say people's attitudes are wrong but you don't know who did the work just because you have receipts it don't mean anything and I don't know the previous owner but I have never bought a car where the seller said that all the dodgy work on this car was done by me!!

Well this thread turned quickly.

I guess the thing with wiring behind the dash is that a lot of zeds are like that. Any of the plastics breaking and the connectors in the engine bay also happens to most zeds.

Personally, I really like Jeff and zedworld (including Jeff's some Jamie). I'm pleased that Jeff's customer base is also being redirected to Jimmer as his reputation is awesome.

I think the best thing to do is for the thread starter to either advise what his concerns are currently so we can possibly point him to the right place to get sorted or maybe contact Jimmer and see whether he can help or advise him what to do.

After reading through this thread i am of the opinion that it should be closed, I agree with Mondo and Gary on this, no point bitching about what's in the past. StuartTheFish, from what i've seen of your comments you seem to be very negative about everything, maybe try and lighten up mate.

Just my opinion, nothing personal.
