Yeah as the title states. Another possible problem..

The bottom end of the engine has become quite loud. You can hear something ticking buts it's louder than just a ticking noise

there is plenty of 10w 50 fully synth oil in it.

Only just changed spark plugs, oil filter, oil, fuel filter. The noise just came on as I was driving.... any ideas?

Could be a lifter if you're using fully synth oil

A TT engine runs best on part synthetic as I found out !

Used fully synth and it to took about 3 oil changes to part synth and a bottle of lifter treatment to quieten it down

Oh aha. I thought they were meant to have fully synth. Alright then

what viscosity is the part synth?

Does having this noise and oil at the minute matter? Will it cause upset? :(

When the bottom end of an engine is mentioned, most would think you are referring to the crankshaft or big end bearings.

Unlikely the noise would be oil related, unless there is a lack of it, very low oil pressure or viscosity.

Bottom end noises are normally not described as 'ticking' noises either, they are more of a tapping or knocking sound.

I run fully synth oil 10w50 (Fuchs Titan Race Pro S) without issue apart from a small oil leak from the main rear seal.

Many on here run a fully synth oil again without issue.

By all means try swapping out to semi-synth oil, but point is I don't think this is a common issue related to oil type.

TT engines run best on the correct oil viscosity.

The viscosity is determined by intended use & the expected ambient temperature they will be operated under.

Synthetic oils offer better high temperature stability & protection than mineral based oils.

Jeff @ zedworld always used part synthetic when doing an oil change on the basis that when the zed was developed fully synthetic wasn't available and semi synthetic was used

That's a bit like saying, I don't use led, smd or hid lights in my 1991 as they weren't available then .

Think I sorted it now guys... I think it was because my heater was on. When it turned off it becomes much quieter. Tried it 5 times on and off and same thing. Louder and quite engine

AC Compressor coming in and out... Might be a fault there that you can hear as opposed to a typical 'engine knock'

I don't, I like the fact that my zed doesn't use led,smd or hid, can't see why a car developed in the 90's needs to look like every other piece of crap from today.

Well hids help you see at night !

Standard lights are dire when it comes to night driving at any kind of decent pace.

They're dire when driving at night!

The standard Xenon's are a different story, like night & day.
