Something funny happening today

When engine cold on startup but foot on accelerator and the revs drop to nearly 0 before coming back and increasing.

Nearly caused me to crash this morning on roundabout. Saw gap on roundabout. But the boot down to go. The revs dropped instead of increasing car nearly cut out , and took approx 2 secs to recover.

Posted the above about a month, ago. I have changed air filter, fuel filter and cleaned throttle bodies. Still no luck. Someone mentioned it could be an airleak. How do I find this??

On a main junction yesterday I went to turn left. Revs dropped and she cut out as I attempted to accelerate. Took nearly 2 mins of starter turning over before she Kicked to life. Very embarrassing with 30 to 40 cars qued up behind me.

Any other thoughts?

A leak would give a hissing noise but can be difficult to locate because of all the engine noise.

This is going to sound weird but the best way I've ever found to find a small air leak is to get a long piece of vacuum tube and stick one end in my ear. Then move the other bit around the engine bay, particularly around air hoses. When you find the leak, it will be fairly easy to hear. It's like having an extremely directional microphone.

A further bonus is that it makes you look really cool and pull girls.

Sounds like your PCV valves. I had the same problem. The springs become weak over time. They move about with the movement of the car especially when braking to a standstill, hense the near stall. Easy to fix and the parts are quite cheap.

Erm, I'm not much of a mechanic, but I did once have the same problem on my Civic Vti (was a great car to drive).

In my case it was the distributor on its way out.

Is yours an auto???

If it is the distributor it'll cost you your right arm n leg...and being a zed, also your left arm n leg too, to fix!!!

Yip

Its an auto but I didnt think the Zed had a distributor.

PS

How do I check if it is my PCV valves?

It's definately NOT the distributor! 'Cause we don't have one!

Q: what do you think coil packs are?

A: A coil per cylinder!

Does this hesitation happen at any other time?

Tim

Woops, sorry Roy for mis-guiding you.

Just that it sounded a lot like the prob I had on my old car.

Hope you sort it out though.
