Hi. I was a member in 2007 when I owned a TT LWB model which eventually blew an engine, and I sold on after getting her fixed. Since then I have owned a 350z, but my passion for the 300 has never dwindled and I always find myself trawling through the ads and on Ebay. My view is that appear to be not many decent original vehicles for sale, and with that in mind I decided to have a look in Japan. To cut a long story short I am in the process of getting not one but two over. Low mileage near mint vehicles. My reason for rejoining the forum was to see if there was a need out there for such vehicles from the members, and with that in mind I aim to offer at least one of these cars to members of this forum before listing them anywhere else. Who knows if the demand is high I may well start a 300z import business. Just to give you a flavour of one of the vehicles. A 1990 SWB non Turbo with one owner, and just 22,00 miles on the clock, and an engine bay that looks like it came out of the factory yesterday. Totally stock as far as I can see, and I believe full service history. I would be happy to hear from members as to whether or not there would be a need for something like this for the Z community in general. Happy days and its good to be back..Garry

So guys what do you think, would there be a market on this forum, if I were to make one or two 300z's available for members. bearing in mind they would not be cheap, as they would be extremely low milage, and in top condition, or would I be better off listing on say classic car's website. My thoughts were to offer here first exclusively for a few weeks. I would appreciate any thoughts on the matter

We had a few new members who joined the forum to get a 300zx but with no luck due to lack of good 300's for sale. One has now bought a very nice Celica so its a case of try it and see Gaz.

None of them have been looking to spend this kind of money though, have they?

My thoughts are the same as dutchgold.

Mines an import last year, like yourself I sourced/imported it.

The cost when all done was over 5K I dont think its that much for the Z I have.

But some looking on here not willing too go to a larger buget.

Just my thought.

Yes I hear you.I guess the market I am looking at is those buyers who are looking for some thing extra special. so A near new (as far as mileage goes) vehicle in unmolested/modified condition. So I guess I can but try, and see if there is any interest. My original thoughts were that the Z community would be the best place to start as like myself there is a knowledge and desire already there. I do appreciate your thoughts, so thanks for taking the time to reply. Garry

I think it's a good idea as the availablility of good Zeds really seems to be drying up here. That said, you may struggle a little to find people that are prepared to drop that much money (comparatively speaking) on one - we've had a few people recently who had around £4k, but nobody springs to mind who had a bigger budget than that.

The fact that it'd be a fresh import should help though. But I think you'd need to be very clear about exactly how far your "services" extend - for example, will you take care of all the necessary registration and MOT'ing (for a charge, of course)? Or will your involvement end when the car hits UK shores?

I also think that you need to know what models you bring over. The main market is geared toward TT manuals and those without half a boat grafted onto them. The market has thankfully moved away (in general) from multi-coloured monstrosities.

I'd still pay top-dollar for a quality vehicle and people's budgets are now starting to increase slightly as the demographic shifts. There are still those however who think they can buy a fire breathing, ripsnorting immaculate Z32 for £1500.....which is completely delusional at best.

Good luck with your venture! :)

That's exactly what I went for, and probably paid at least as much as you did. Having the car already in the country would've saved a lot of time and hassle, which will put a lot of people off, so you'll have that going for you.

You would probably make more money, importing the cars & parting them out.

Plus you won't have the registration issues.

Not over here. The parts market has been flooded as so many have been broken for spares.

Complete quality vehicles are where the money is (if there is any to be made). There are (were) a monumental amount that were broken as rust is the main killer of cars in the UK.

Great question which I have already thought about. I would get the MOT done and any thing like fog lights. as far as registration I will give the buyer the option of being the first registered UK owner, or I will do it and they would be the second. seems fair to me

You can MOT before registering it?

Yes Indeed. Here's a little known fact. If you car has a cracked number plate it will fail an MOT, however if you have no number plate at all then it will pass. How mad is that, but thats why a non registered car can get an MOT or one reason anyway. I am just doing the same with a Chevvy Astro day Van

Interesting. My car failed an NCT last year for a non-functioning middle brake light. I could've just taken the thing off and it'd pass!

ME!!!!!!!!!!

lol

Got pipped on that nice silver one on eBay the other night.

Beginning to be a bit more sensible on what I am looking (which will obviously cause sadness amongst this lot as I have providing them with a giggle or 2 over the last few days )

Obviously I want a million horsepower for 50p but I would settle for a nice TT and I have about £6500 in the pot all told.

^^^^ Perfect customer for Gazwoz right there!
