Posted recently about the problem I had with my auto being stuck in 1st gear.

Disconnected the battery for a few days as it had gone flat. Jumped the car tonight and it's sorted itself out.

For those that may not know, disconnecting the battery for more than about 30 mins resets the ECU.

Whether or not that was what had got its knickers in a twist I will never know but it's sorted, which is the main thing.

Yep is a relief!

Relief knowing that I've escaped another few grand of green flowing into the burning hell never to be seen again that I don't have to start with. ROFL :D

Excellent news, TT. :D

my auto got stuck also in car park, just reversing up and car stalled, very embarrasing lots of people honking horns at me. panicked like mad and noticed little red switchy thing on the back of the lever, pressed this in and all was well again, dont no if it was some sort of overide switch or what but hasnt done it since.

That's the manual release button for the gear lever. On the Auto you can only move between certain gears with the footbrake depressed. Depressing the footbrake releases the gearlever lock solenoid (you can hear it click on mine) so you can move the lever - but if for some reason that stops working, or you want to put the car into Neutral (say) without the engine running or ignition on, you can do it by depressing both that (little red) button and the usual release button (on the side) and moving the lever..

Oh and well done Timmy.. :D

Good one. Wouldnt have happened if you had one of those sticks that changed the gear and not rely on a computer to do it ;)

Thanks guys.

Q. Az you mentioned moving the selector without the engine running and not having your foot on the brake, I did move the selector from N back to P without the engine running! I was running the car upto temp but forgot to move the selector back to P so did that after I'd switched the engine off. Could this be the cause???
