Hello everyone,

None of my lights are currently working, appart from my main beams, they come on when I go to switch my dipped beam on and will not switch off, unless I switch to side lights or off altogether.

The indicators, interior and brakes work fine, just my side lights, dipped and dash lights do not work. I have done some modifications of late stripping the car of interior appart from dash.

I believe that I might have disconnected something on the lighting circuit and left it and it is shorting on the body causing the lighting circuit to stay off. No fuses are blown, checked that already.

I think the reason the mains come on instead of dip beam is a fail safe if your lighting circuit fails to get you home, lighting limp mode if you will.

I have checked around where I've been tinkering and I cant see any obvious shorts, but maybe someone else has done something in the past and had a simplar fault?

The only things I believe i've touched on this circuit are: Light in ashtray, cigurette illumination, clock illumination, glove box illumination. I cant for the life of me think of anything else on this circuit in the car.

All I've done is changed the seats / carpet / removed trim / seat belts / removed stereo, glovebox. I'm genuinely stuck, so any help would be most appreciated. Everything else works on the car perfectly, runs like a Nissan dream.

A 10 amp fuse at the side of the driver's footwell has most likely blown. Top row, third from left (if I remember right).

That'll be why your lights have gone into "safe mode"

Yep, that was it. The reason I said no fuses where gone, was I did a check and none looked blown. That fuse however was blown, but it blew right on the side, so from a quick observation looked in good nick. Thank you very much for your help, it saved me stripping the car down looking for a problem that wasn't there. Well it did blow for a reason, but that is for another day. Cheers.
