Boost anomaly

I got my first Z last weekend – a manual TT in an aftermarket cosmic blue! I'm absolutely loving it so far, just noticed a couple of oddities.

Firstly, when I boost sometimes it is super smooth but other times it really judders. Like a hesitation, and I think I can hear it backfire (hard to tell as it has a muffler). Does anyone have any ideas what could cause something like this? It strikes me odd that it happens sometimes and not others.

Secondly, I've noticed a judder from between 40–60mph. From what I've read on the forums, this is quite common, and a misaligned prop shaft is to blame?

Thanks!

There's many things that could cause your running fault mate, as it's an intermittent fault it's possible it's electrical

First off check all your ignition coil and injector connectors are making good contact

It's a good idea to have the engine idling and go around the engine multi plugs and do a wiggle test, this can sometimes show up a poor coil connector off example.

But as said there is many reasons this is happening, but one step at a time.

Is the judder in your third paragraph a vibration through the body of the car or more like a misfire?

Thanks for the reply. I'll have a look at the things you suggested and see if it identifies any issues.

With the judder, it's like a vibration through the car, not the steering wheel though.

I did a 'wiggle test'. Couldn't notice anything changing with the engine. What is it I should be looking/hearing for with this. Any other ideas of what could be wrong?

Is the prop shaft issue an easy check?

First thing to do is never "drive through" any kind of hesitation or misfire, especially one that occurs on boost. If it's a fuelling problem, it could be running lean and you may damage the engine.

Yer, good advice. I'll have to abstain from boosting for the meantime :(. Do you think it's likely to be a fuel related issue? Do you think it'd be worth going to Zedworld? Are they reasonably priced and fair?
