Hi guys looking for some ideas on a recent problem.

 

When the engine is running it smells quite bad of petrol fumes and seems to be blowing cold air from the nearside of the front of the engine around the cas area. I haven't noticed any lack of power and seems to run ok.

 

If any of you guys could help with some ideas of what it could be I would most appreciate your input.

This happens alot!. Check all fuel pipes in the engine bay are tight. Common leak points are between the throttle bodies and on the pressure regulators for the fuel rail. Mine was gushing out the other week.

As was said above, it's commonly the fuel pipes. I found that just tightening them didn't cure the problem, so I replaced them all and it's fine now. It's really cheap and easy to do and well worth it, in my opinion. There's a really useful guide by Jeff for replacing the awkward one under the throttle linkage.

As said above.....

 

.....just try tightening the hose clips on all the under-bonnet fuel pipes before you do anything else! In colder conditions, the metal contracts and the rubber gets a tad more brittle; so the seal is not so tight until the engine is warm. Normally the problem goes away with a few turns of a Phillips screwdriver....:wink:

Nissan fixed the problem later in the Z32 production cycle with spring clips which allow for the contraction

of the pipes with age. You can get a kit of replacement pipes and clips from:
