Hi, had some H3C lights and thought id put them in for comparison, put them in, clamped, and took the flying lead with a spade to the connector. plugged in to the live and switched on. Nothing. took it out and placed the baseplate against bolt head Voila!! let there be light. So I thought the baseplate was the earth so a lead to the earth side of the connector wasn't needed.

Where am I going wrong...

Cheers

Andrew, Hi, Thanks, the H3 I've got looks like this, the flying lead is for the power supply , or so I am lead to believe. So if that's the case, where is the Earth

The body of the bulb touching the headlamp holder is the earth, but you will need to make a short wire tail from the body to the holder plate to earth it.

Yup; Graham is right - assuming you have a J-spec car; because the body of the bulb-holder will not otherwise be earthed unless you do the above modification.

I have something to say............ It's better to burn out than to fade away..... :tt2:

This picture shows the black earth lead connected to the H3 bulb mounting baseplate, the other end of which

goes to the low beam harness ground connection. The flying lead on the H3 bulb goes to the +12v supply low

beam harness connection.
