My plenum is off at the moment and seems a shame to put it back without doing anything with it. I don't want the hassle of maintaining a polished one so was thinking either get mine powder coated of do it myself with VHT. Has anyone else done this without any problems?

I've done mine in wrinkle black, but yet to refit so can't comment further

For me it was to much hassle preping, masking and spraying multiple coats for it to not even be that tough. It got marked by the straps putting the engine back in so personally I'll just get it powder coated next time. So much more variety in colours and finishes as well.
