Anyone running 19's im looking at 19X8.5. Do we think that any arch work would need to be done?

Featured Replies

I don't think you have to do anything with the arches but have you seen the price of the tyres yet?!

I think 18" s are far enough for go maybe 19" for show but replacing those rears every few months you'd need to be in the pharmaceutical business ;)

Chris dont the 295s foul anything? Or have you flared arches? My 265's look close to the arches as is.

doh!, question answered I just read the front end of your spec Chris. How many miles do you get out of them?

Willie

235/35/19 = 127.70 delivered inc VAT

265/30/19 = 142 delivered inc VAT

Dosent seem like the end of the world to me, but it is my second car!!!!

Sounds OK, so tyres are the only thing not inflating these days!

Not so long ago s02s were about £300 a tyre for 295's X 18 so assumed even worse for 19"

Yup, cheap and nasty, but as for doing the job? Well......if you enjoy fishtailing into oblivion then yes I suppose they will  :D

I know of a supplier that only charge £700 for a set of brand new 19" rims,They fit the Z perfect will post a picture of them when he sends me one;)

You don't value life then? There is approximately 1ft2 of your 300bhp rwd supercar in contact with the tarmac, and IMHO tyres should be the last thing you skimp on, next to brake components. It really doesn't matter how fast you can go if you can't stay on the black stuff!

Read the online reports on crap tyres the differences are significant and very scarry, could be the difference between witnessing the accident and being the accident.

Depends how you drive at the end of the day. It's still going to out handle my 309D so just need to not be a test pilot till they ware out and i get me some sticky rubber

I'm just wondering, how many times you can start a new thread asking exactly the same question  as the previous 3 ?

As regards " cheap and nasty tyres" I presume that they are 'z' rated and 'EU' marked. Therfore they must have passed tests to qualifiy them to this standard. If they are 'Z' rated they should be O.K. for at least 155MPH. When I buy tyres I usually ask for Brigstones, but only because I was told they were good and F1 uses them! Are we paying stupid prices for brand name chic. Any tyre expert want to explain the ins and outs.

The Z rating and EU mark give a level of guarantee that the tyre won't explode under normal circumstances at the rated speed. Grip is a different thing.

I tried three brands of tyre on my Z - the first being on there when I bought it (dirt cheap).

In my experience, cheap is definitely nasty. Mid range is probably acceptable if you're not after grip although I'm sure there are exceptions (and Toyo do tend to get good press).

On the expensive front you do get what you pay for. I tried Pirelli P Zero and Bridgestone SO2. The SO2s were by far the best.

Money spent on tyres gives so much more driving pleasure. It's like all the people (myself included) who always thought their brakes were adequate and then upgrade. It makes SO much difference to the fun you have.

i have to concur with HAIRY.

My car came with Bridgestone so2's and they were great, i then swapped otu for some cheap crap, lets say the nest day i went back and got bridgestones.

the difference was vast in both wet or dry.

Problem is on here, you want to go for 400 brake on your car, but then want to skip on decent tryes (the only thing between you and the road) and on brakes ect... thats starting to play a dangerous game, and you are missing out on what is a much better driving experience.

I've tried Pirelli P-zeros. I've tried Bridgestones. I've tried Yokohamas. The Proxes are easily the best. The Yokohamas the second best. The Pirellis were bloody awful.

Anyway, for a change, I'm pissed so what would I know?!

19s with toyo proxes anterea 309 wheels, then go for some 14" brakes just like mine :p

toyos are an awesome wet weather tyre a little better than the s02 tyres and yes i have had them both so i can comment. s02 slightly better in the dry than the toyos.

dont buy cheap makes they wont last long if you drive your car 1-3000 miles plus dangerous!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

my 2 penny's worth.......
