If I change the turbo seals over one do I need to have the turbo balanced or are thay good to go and two when bolting down should thay be torgue down or just tightened down

they will need balancing m8 ... Dont do a home repair on them as they will not last to long .. not that dont think you will like doing the job twice anyways

Despite some claims it's ok if you mark it the speed they rotate at it just won't happen an nth of a degree is enough to ruin them. You can rebuild them at home easy enough but you will need them balanced which sadly isn't cheap.

Haha Nothing new there think the car will be off the rd longer than I thought

I rebuilt mine about five years ago and without the recommended balancing, but I did meticulously check and clean everything and measure tolerances. I ve been running about 12psi for 5 years now however for the last year my passenger turbo is smoking on idle, but haven't had time to take off and get rebuilt And balanced by a professional company.

Personally I like the challenge and have learnt a lot by doing things myself over the forthteen years of ownership, however sometimes you just have to say no and get things done professionally.

Basically I think I've been lucky to go so long without failure, although my brothers 300 which he done around the same time is still fine and doesn't smoke.

14 years! I didn't realise you had had it that long. You guys coming to Winchester on the 14th?

Would love to stepthen, Unfortunately am just to busy. Am flat with my buisness and trying to finish my extension before Xmas at weekends. My Brother also on call that weekend of 14th. Will hope to do more meets next year, and get more involved.

I do prefer meeting fellow enthusiast and sharing knowledge/ and learning knew things in person than on a computer.:alien:

Thanks Stepthen, putting the stillen lip next year that I bought from Andrew G and putting original wings back on. Should be done for jap fest ( Castle Combe ).
