Hey guys just been on the phone to fluxdirect for a provisional quote for my car when built none of the insurance companies they use would insure me and they got one quote in for me for £3500 :( I'm no way paying that I have lost my ncb due to accident in june so back to square 1 but have fully comp on my daily drive and have one conviction on my licence but £3500 is takin the piss, give me a full list please and i can sit on my next free day and ring round.

Fluxdirect are competitive for me. As Sir Charles says, make sure you get quotes for a classic policy. Footman James also has a very good agreed valuation service.

I'm with fluxdirect and insured it with a 2 page list of modifications including engine modifications. Insurance does seem to be a bit of a lottery at times.

Your right there I can insure an m5 for less than my zed go figure and thats a reasonably new one too cumputer says NO feck the feckin computer lol h8 the things haha

I've just bought a zed insured it on a classic guaranteed value policy with mods added for £350 with Lancaster insurance.

I don't understand it either guys all they said was that because i had my claim in june and black mark on licence and the car was so highly modified its proper pot look I think and bloody annoying too as this was meant to be on a classic policy limited to 5000miles maybe if i insure another car it will help lol away look a bmw at weekend teach my little cousin to drive in even with him on it as a learner at 19 its only £800 fully comp.

There are so many factors which affect insurance. Age, location, car type etc. The biggest factor is the driver. Background, type of job, no job, driving history etc.Some jobs can load your policy by 100% and some can discount it by huge amounts too. If you happen to have a few even slightly limiting factors, when these are combined it can hammer your premium.

 

My friend couldnt understand that since he had 3 non fault accidents (paid out/liability admitted by other parties etc etc) during the past 2 years and never made a claim himself, his own insurance rocketed. It's all about the likelihood that you statistically pose to make a future claim, based in part on past events.
