Well the tt engine here so 1st job compression test on it if all ok with numbers I'll start breaking the engine down and replace gaskets and seals new injectors and hoses also the candy paint here looks nice just waiting for the rest to turn up and got too pay for some gear next wk happy days

Well took the sump off bolts where loose and not much sealant so no wonder she was leaking spayed the engine and the rocker covers so fare so goodimage.jpg

I'd come and help you paint it if I lived a little closer. Have sprayed a quite a few things before with compressor. I actually really enjoy it. I think if I had a little more spare time, I'd take up as a hobby. It's really satisfying, especially if you do a half decent job! :) This was the best effort I did....when I was at uni in the late 90s, I had this Cavalier Cesaro as well as my V6 Astra, the wing mirrors were completely screwed....

Took my time and spent ages finishing it off with a colour sand and lots of polish.

....and then fitted! Pretty happy with colour-match and finish.

Did the wheels too! They looked pretty scabby.

That looks alright si going too take my time this time not rush engine now painted just got the belts too go on just waiting for one more too turn up pull the injectors as putting s2 ones in and new turbos poss after Xmas if funds allow going too do some more metal polishing

Well drilled out the damaged bolt on the exhaust manifold all good there now took the cover off the timing belt the belt looks ok you guys can put me right on that im sure don't know if I wood put the cover back on or get the short one from z centre image.jpg

The belt looks fine mate, but while you have it all apart for peace of mind i would replace it with a new belt.

Deep down I new I wood have too groover I just wanted someone to say na it's sweet so I can spend the cash on something else on the engine but as you say safe than sorry

Same pipes I have Ted...... They look lovely when polished right up...... lol

Did you paint those couple of bits outside?

 

I did before it got too cold I put the rocker covers and balance bar in nightermos think that how you spell it too clean them smooth and spayed them Cardinal red and that's a deep red

great job mate :) what about turbos this Turbo seal what u have,are u replace yourself

 

Yes mate I'll reuse the original nut on the repeller think it's the 8mm on the front as that balanced and Mark everything up as I go along so when it goes back together it still be balanced I hope I got both sets as both turbos got play on them

and where you bought this seals on ebay or some elsewhere any god this is :) my t28 need rebuild and must buy recon kit too.

Well nearly there now with all the parts fri I pay for the last lot then the fun starts got so many boxes and packets so I'm at a loos end now so I'll poss go and start and drop the gearbox and start pulling the engine out

Well just got the last of the parts thanks lee well pleased :thumbup1: now I can crack on and remove the engine and remove the body kit it's not nice lying under the car with the cold wind blowing up your back and bashing your hand fills 10 times the pain in the cold too many ffs and the odd c word time too come in as Iv got too work tonight

Looking forward to seeing the finished article :)

Haha I can't wait too see too Noel sometime I think way am I doing this there naf all wrong with the n/a engine that's in the car but I just want too see what the tt like but what I wood say if anyone is going too change the engine over to a tt buy a good clean engine with as Much parts on it as poss don't go the way I have as it does work out expensive very expensive think that's a lesson learnt for me trying too be a tight ass

Well all stop for the mo as there management restructure at work ie redundancy so over the last 3-4 months it's been interviews after interview phase tests and structures and role profile if I keep my job I'll be red ringed as I'm payd over the top on the plus side I work nights not every ones cup of tea but Iv had too go the next grade up witch iv never wanted too do so hope we fined out by next wk where we stand
