Extremely humbling to see the vast quantity, I went to France with my father years ago and saw the allied grave yards really had quite an impact on me to see the scale of these things.

Have you been listening to radio 4s tommies series? It's made using documents and records so its historically accurate and follows an individual day 100 years ago, ie todays episode is what happens on this day etc. Very interesting and because its accurate and real very emotive. It's on, on Tuesdays at 2.15 I believe, or you can listen via iPlayer.

That is so stunning yet sad at the same time. I was lucky to be picked for the Festival of Remembrance at the Albert Hall when I was a young solider and the most moving experience of the night was when the poppies floated down from the roof. I still have some of them poppies. Least we forget.

Went to the Menin Gate in Ypres the other week and visited the war cemeteries. It was very moving seeing all of those graves AND all the names of all the soldiers who’s bodies have yet to be found. Well worth a visit.

Haven't been to the Tower of London, even though I work in London but I have bought one of the poppies and it will take pride of place in our house when it arrives.

Lest we forget

Am planning on going in next couple of days with the old man and bro..The old man was based here as a royal fusilier in the 60s and he has told me many a story of his time in army.Think i will seriously choke up though as lost a grandparent in ww1 as well as relatives in ww2.like others have said..lets make sure we NEVER forget

I was there yesterday, been to London for a few days with the family, never been before.

thats amazing, gave their lives for our freedom, will never forget that for as long as i live

Seconded......

....Lovely pictures Andrew; a great place and a fitting tribute to the men who lost their lives in WWI. 1914~2014, lest we forget..........

I have something to say............ It's better to burn out than to fade away..... :tt2:
