I'm considering a new fuel pump. What's best to get? For info the car is fairly heavily modified.

Also is there any tests to see if the current one is OK?

Hi Lee.

These are from Mike from mjp.

Fuel pump - £220.25 -one week Euro stock

Alternative fuel pump available - requires minor mods to fit £95 + VAT (approx.)

Also noel uses an AEM fuel pump that flows more than the stock pump which is good for 750bhp. Not sure on the price for that as I'm still waiting for him to get back to me.

Sorry about the delay for the prices, I just wanted to do as much testing as possible.

The pumps are perfect, incredibly quiet in operation and fit without issue in the standard bracket. I ran my car dry and even then the noise when priming the AEM was quieter than standard.

I'm placing an order with AEM shortly for those that are interested. Genuine AEM of course, no Chinese knock-off Walbros in disguise :)

AEM pump on the left compared to standard pump fitted into the bracket:

AEM pump on the right fitted to the fuel pump bracket compared to standard pump on the left:

When would be the appropriate limit of the stock pump be reached, as in when should it be replaced.

Paul, is that for a replacement standard pump?

I'm just wondering why I/someone would pay that if its cheaper to buy the walbro one (if its the right one and an actual walbro).

Noel, do you know what the approx cost of those might be.

When they give up, the engine runs lean and you melt a piston

They're reliable at mid 500s. Reached the limit of one running twin GT2871Rs.

For the cost, 1hr fitting time and peace of mind through renewing a 25yr old item, it's a bit of a no-brainer IMO.

Walbros are noisy, way too many fakes out there to be sure you're getting the genuine article.

If anyone is interested I have a new unused OEM Bosch pump for sale Pm me for details
