Ok, I could be in the market for a shortie very soon. Must be a TT and must be a targa top. Ideally a manual, but autos considered. Preferably standard or near-standard looks. Must have at least MOT, preferably T&T and be ready to drive away.

Here's the interesting bit: my budget's going to be around £3k tops!

Am I just having a laugh with myself here...?

Possibly. Can't imagine you'll get the best example with your budget if you're after a shortie TT manual.

I'm definitely not expecting the best possible example, Si... just something decent and solid will suffice at the moment. :)

Have your ammunition ready with 30 second notice for availability and there will be some poor soul who needs 3K fast with your wants...just sit and wait mate;)

Bri is right, once winter hits in and people get desperate in January those cars will come around. Time.

Let's hope someone gets to that point before the end of this month, which is probably when I'll have blown the budget!

what's your reason for wanting a shortie? Just interested.

I just prefer the dimensions of them, mate :) A fairly compact 2 seater coupe... just looks right to me.

Fair enough! I've recently bought just what your after, but I've already invested too much in it. Ironic because I was originally after a Slicktop and had agreed to buy N300SWB when the seller advertised it in March, but then changed his mind! Doh!

After living with a SWB for a while now after owing a LWB car I can say IMO they feel more like a sports car and although not hugely smaller it is very noticeable. :) Good choice

You make me sick...

If it makes you feel any better, I've had a bit of a rough time with it. There was and still is plenty wrong with it, plenty of bodges, but I'm sorting them - its getting better and newer with each passing month!

It was a forum car too, so just goes to prove, just because it was doesn't mean there entirely honest cars.:( My fault, I bought it!

My options look something like this:

1. Throw some money at my current 2+2

Or

2. Buy a shortie and sell the LWB cheap to recoup some pennies.

I've always wanted the SWB, if I'm honest. But I am very fond of the one I have now, but every now and again I'll look at it and wish it had a couple less seats...!

Guess I'll just have to see if something turns up within budget! :)

Take the back seat out if you think there is too many seats mate

If you decide to sell them left me know, but be quick as I want as new car asap!

the 1st zed i ever looked at years ago was a silver shortie with a tin roof and TT...i walked past it not interested as i thought then it was the poor mans ZX....how times change:wacko:

There's one on Gumtree in Lockerbie. Its a yellow TT auto. One owner since import in 2004. Recent new autobox and cooler. Looks very very clean. (Front bumper is an acquired taste) low miles. £4k. They might take an offer. I just saw it on Gtree today

I saw that one but thought £4k for a Zed with no MOT was somewhat pricey...! :(

Mondo, speak with Geordie French, I understand he is looking to sell his with a new engine and Turbos , Mark Derby knows all about this car.

Regards

Sayers

I think he mentioned on FB that he'd possibly paint all the panels one colour too before selling. Could be wrong though

Geordie's car's outside my budget, sadly. I may well be chasing a pipedream here! :(

There's a nice-looking one inScotland on Gumtree - see here - but the owner's not responding to the texts he's asking for! :(

Anyone recognise it or know anything about it, by any chance...?
