Okay all, just to update, I took a gas strut from a 2006 Mercedes Kompressor bonnet, installed it today, job done. so if anybody else needs to do a quick conversion you now know what to look for.

I'm gonna revive this thread and ask a few questions...

Looking to do this mod but I wanna make sure the bonnet opens nice and high for working on it.

Can anyone who's done it give me any details on the length of their strut and possibly a picture showing how much it opens.

Cheers.

Dave you are welcome to come and have a look in person if you are in the area

I have one of these that I'd like to get fitted at some point.

But I don't really want it tucked down the side of the inner wing. There was a photo somewhere on here where one had been fitted on the top of the inner wing (on the battery side) so the strut would lie flat when the bonnet was closed.

If anyone can shed any light on that installation, then that'd be great :thumbup1:
