Hi everyone,

Anyone that knows me will know I have only managed to start going to any shows this year. Now my Z is finally on the road, I have been enjoying putting faces to names and cars.

So far this year I managed a mini meet at Maccy D's in Lakeside and met two nice members.....

Then to Norwich to meet Spin doctor while I was on my anniversary weekend away..... lol

Then I got to go to Castle Combe for the first Japfest..... a nice day out........

Then it was Santa-pod organised by MarkDerby (uncle Fester or Mini Me) as he was referred to ..... lol..... A nice day and met some more nice Z owners, Bob Genie, Sam Dosser, etc.... Got to catch up with Mr. F after a few years.....

Next was my family event at Beaulieu motor museum that was superbly organised..... My wife and 2 boys (6 and 2) absolutely loved it and are looking forward to next years meeting. There was so much to do for the family with the museum, old houses, the Abbey, kids play area, Monorail, Classic Bus ride.... Just a lovely day out and I got to meet yet more members and put more faces to names...... Thank you to FunkySi and all involved in organising this and giving up your time..... It is much appreciated!

Then my first JAE this weekend with some of the nicest people you could want to spend a weekend with....... I absolutely loved it!

I must admit I was apprehensive and nervous going on my own and not actually knowing anyone there to talk to face to face..... But I was made to feel welcome and part of the gang!

There were times where I was laughing so much my sides hurt...... thanks to Bird and his lovely Janine, Mark (Rata2ie), Phutumsch or Foot munch as bird called him, Craig, Nicki and family, Jason farrow and Jay, Jeff (big show), Jaikai, Stuart (Bruce) Gunner, Rolandas and his partner, Richard and Ian (I wear 70's flares) Vodkashots...... lol

Nearly forgot the elusive ADL phoenix who popped in to say hi........ lol

You all made me feel so welcome and looked after..... The food was nicely cooked by Janine, Mark and Craig and others while I was there, I heard a rumour the Ian (Vodkashots) tried to cook before I got there, but was told to put the blow torch away in case he burnt down the marquee or set light to himself.... lol

I know some people on the forum are not happy with the events or how they are organised...... Constructive criticism welcome.....

My personal feelings on this are that, if this is how people feel then please suggest alternatives, offer some help organising things, support the people putting in the effort and time trying to make the meets and shows fun for everyone there....

I just wanted to write this thread to say thank you for a wonderful time this year and thanks to EVERYONE on here that I have managed to meet and those I haven't for making it so much fun and helping me in every way possible!

I am looking forward to next year and would like to offer to help with events in any way I can, to help make next year even better still........ let me know what I can do to help....

Again thanks for a wonderful year......

I enjoyed it as much as you did. As much as anyone organising has to do the ground-work (well after all, that's what they put themselves out for), it's a team effort at the end of the day. The event wouldn't have been the success it had been without the input and attendance of its members. :)

The 2015 show and event season is being discussed in depth by the REO's at the moment.

We hope to have a presence at all the major national shows, as well as a number of Z specific events.

Once the dust has settles from this years season, I will post up the 2015 show season dates in the public areas and we'll go from there.

As has been said by Ian and others, if people have ideas, then come forward with them. It's no use moaning about an event afterwards if we don't know what your expectations are to begin with.

I welcome anyone to PM me with their ideas, and if you have a local show near you that you think we should have a few cars at then PM your REO who will be happy to assist you in whatever you need to get it off the ground.

Zed #2: 1998 Midnight Purple 2+2 NA. (owned 2020 - now)

Zed #1: 1995 Blue Slicktop NA (2013-2015)

Could agree with Russ more. For me this years JAE was the best I have been to. The fact there we so few of us brought everyone together and we had some great laughs. Watching Ian trying to get the projector to work while some played musical chairs had most of us in stiches.

Roll on 2015 season...

Strange thing is this year since I have been Zedless it seems I have been to more Zed orientated meets in a year than when I had the Z

Events attended so far in 2014

3 meets at Mike Feeney's SEZK monthly meets at the Halfway house on the first Sundays of each month

SEZK run what you brung at North Weald

3 days at the Z Meet at the Donnington Historic Classics

Overnight to attend the Z meet at Japfest1 meet at Castle Coombe

Meet at the Ace Cafe earlier in the year

The Lakes meet featuring Midge Ure spending an extra 4 days up in the Lake District

Overnight stay for the Coventry anniversary meet

1 day at JAE with 300zxs

Would have liked to have gone to a few more but have spent time on 10 weekends out of the 32 weekends so far this year would have been pushing my luck with the missus

There were a few more I would have liked to go to like japfest2,trax, the japshows at Santapod Zedfest and the Gold Cup weekend at Oultern Park that is a free entry for people who have their car on the stand

Point of this post really is to show the variety of different stye of events that are put on and what I try to do is if any help is needed there on the day do not be to shy to offer to help out

Steve - Your wife probably wants rid of you for more weekends than just 10.

Mark - I really enjoyed it this year too. I absolutely agree that although there were only about 11 zed's, it probably been the best JAE as far as everyone getting together and having a laugh.

Russ - JAE was obviously the best one because I was there lol. On a serious note though, nice post mate.

Why?...... What picture / published item are you gonna pop up in next mate....... how can you top this year????

Joking aside, with all the support and advice the members on here give one another, I think there will be more Z's on the road next year and more members able to attend the meets and shows than ever.....

Personally what I loved this weekend was watching the members in the group mugshot bonding and basically taking the pee out of one another light heartedly and just having a damn good time with complete strangers!!

I left to go home to reality, knowing what I could say jokingly and to whom without offending them..... I understood members a bit more, rather than behind a keyboard and they were really funny.......

Lol yeah I forgot I've been with Obama, to space and various other adventures this year, I really do get about lol.

I think your totally right there, so many people you may form an opinion on based on what they have written and how you have interpreted that can often be so wrong. The written word often lacks tonality and personality, I met a few people that many might consider grumpy or rude even that are in reality just sarcastic wind up merchants that in real life have you in side splitting fits of laughter.
