HI All,

For some reason I have just tried my heated seats for the first time, since getting my car back in March, and discovered that the drivers side does not work  .

Push the button, the light does not come on and there's no relay click sound, like what you get when using the passenger side seat.

Had a look for fuses but could not find anything relating to individual seat. Check the wiring and that appears ok from the switch end. Trying to locate the relay, sounds like it's behind the ECU.

Any tips guys on this sort of problem?

PS: I lost my service manual so Im'e kinda stuck without it :(

I think it was an optional extra on UK spec cars only. I had a look through the manual earlier but could find no mention of heated seats so I guess you're on your own for the time being.

How easy is it to fit heated seats to a car without them.

Is it just a case of putting the elements in and wiring up two switches? If so where do the switches go on your car crazy man.

:D :D

 i didnt realise these cars had heated seats, ours doesnt even have an electric passenger seat :( Oh well its got leather :)

As far as I am aware late model series 2 Z32's had the heated seats.

Switches go whare the leccy mirror controls are. I've got a UK car K Reg late 1992 registered, dunno if you get the heated seats on the Jap spec ones.

Anyhew, still stuck with only the passengar seat working.

not looked at the wiring diagram or anything, but if the lights not coming on on the switch, it would seem to suggest a fault in the supply voltage to the switch, or the switch itself.

like i said, not checked the diagrams, so check to confirm.

Think it was optional, mine is Jap late '92 and doesn't have 'em. Only other UK car I've seen with them is Anita's. (Ajay)

You can try the "Dumb and Dumber" technique and wet yourself instead.

It's really warm for a couple of minutes but has embarrassing side effects :D

LOL

This is true....Series 1 UK spec cars had the cloth interior, it was Series 2 - 92 onwards, that received the leather interior and the heated seats, UK Spec only.

There were 4 variants for UK Series 1 cars: Auto or Manual, with Leather or cloth. Series 2 UK cars had heated seats.

Just to clarify....SERIES 2 UK CARS had heated seats. :D

I have a 93 Series II UK Leather TT and it does indeed have heated seats, and boy do you need them when it's cold:D

Found the problem. Knackered relay, there are two and are located to the left and up of the ECU, tucked away.

Pisser to get out.

Just need to get a new one.
