I have had a search but cannot find anything

needing some front discs and pads for my 1993 na 300 and was wondering if they are the same size as the turbo discs and pads?.

Featured Replies

I'm sure they're the same. I think only the very early na's have different front disks but someone else will confirm it.

Measure them mate, old n/a discs are 280mm and TT are 300mm (thickness)

Correction, both NA and TT front discs are a 280mm diameter, all TT discs are 30mm thick, as are later NA's, its only the earlier NA's that have a thickness of 26mm.

The rear discs are bigger at a 297mm diameter, but only 18mm thick and are the same for all 300zx versions. :thumbup1:

Further more, the front pads are the same across all versions, regardless of the thickness difference.

Apparently, 1991+versions of the NA have the same front discs as the TT, its just the 89-90 cars with the 26mm discs, so if yours is definitely a 93 just order the TT discs.

I knew there was a difference, oh well, try and help and give wrong info

Glad you corrected me.

I hope they aren't that thick, wheels would stick out the arches big time lol!

Hi

Don't take it for granted that NA discs are the same as a TT for a 1993 car. I have 1993 series 2 NA and my discs were the 26mm type which was a bit of a shock when I tried to fit new discs and pads. In the end got TT calipers to overcome it

My early Series 2 NA (produced Q4 1992 - registered in 1993) also had 26mm discs. Changed about 10 years ago for TT set-up.

I would imagine that if all else fails and you can't successfully measure them, then if you have an early NA car you could just buy the 26mm discs and they'd be fine. Even if it turned out that the originals were 30mm, the pistons would compensate for the difference by protruding a little further, after all it would only equate to 2mm/side.

You guys are right!

I ended up buying the TT discs (30mm thick) and they do not fit. My car is definitely a 1993

I ended up grinding the caliper slightly, so the new disc could fit. I also sanded down one of the brake pads taking off 2mm, so the disc would turn freely

I would recommend picking up some TT callipers, they come up cheap and getting them rebuilt. then your brakes will be better and the problem will be taken care of.

I too have a K plate (93) but in reality it is a 1990, so earlier NA and i did indeed have the 26mm discs originally, which when buying discs at the time was a nightmare, so bought TT calipers and discs in the end, problem solved.

Check your vin number, bottom of seat belt, rear boot carpet tag and plastic light cover in the boot, will have the original date stamped.
