Just recently got my first zed, its a 1991 TT auto (uk spec), but also just encountered my first problem, the car will only do 120mph, when it gets there it just pulls back and dont want to know. From what the previous owner tells me the car has been fitted with boost jets and a re-mapped ECU. Could this be my problem.

HELP!!

What track did you try that out on then?..............

F.T.

sounds ot me like a jap speed limiter, thats 112mph so the speedo prolly reads 120 anyway lol. Cant see how on a uk spec though

are you sure it is definatley UK spec. Possibly it has been fitted with a jap spec ECU which still has the limiter in place.

It does sound like the speed limiter to me

Sound like it to me. Even though the limiter on a Jap Z is 112mph, the speedos get inaccurate after 70mph

Does your Car have a nissan or Z badge ? This is the easiest way to find out the spec.

If it is a Z badge.

Check behind the pannel in the passenger foot well to see if there is a speed defender installed.

If there's nothing there. then it will be behind the dash.

If there is still nothing then its a speed limit problem. Cost about £100 max and easy to fit yourself.

The car is definatley uk spec according to the AA hpi check, so if it is a jap ECU can i just plug a standard uk spec one in with the boost jets installed.
