Hey all

I finally got my plates last week and due to work commitments only managed to drive the car properley this weekend, so what do I think.

Well I have owned some fast cars in my life. 400HP MR2 Turbo and 450HP R32 GTR are the quickest and the 300zx is roughly 320HP so I am told.

When I climbed into the Z the snail like feel of the cabin cacooning itself around me makes me think I am in something special. All buttons, switches are neatly presented with ease of access and I am sitting surprisingly low. Buddy Club coilovers make it feel like a go kart.

I start her up and the noise makes me grin, the rumble is addictive, unfortunatley for my neighbours.

I begin my journey to the motorway and the car feels great on the road. For such a big car it has the same characteristics as my old MR2, a point and squirt car which will happily go where I want it to.

Onto the slip road of the motorway and I plant my foot. Brutal is the only word I can describe this cars acceleration in 2nd and 3rd gear. Instant power that never lets go. I am easily doing licence losing speeds but my grin and the noise eggs me on.

Its not as fast as my old cars but its an absolute joy to drive.

The cars is not without fault but after 6 years of not having a Jap car its good to be back!!!

I want to get some niggly paintwork issue sorted and its going to RB Motorsport this week for some love but the 300ZX is an awesome machine, which is very under-rated!!!!

Gorgeous zed.

Please note: refrain from posting such envious posts. This goes to all other zed owners. You are making me very upset because I am currently without one. So no mentions of how brilliant and great zed are for the meantime would be fab

Adam

Glad to hear you are pleased with your new toy Viper....

.....And as for the 400bhp MR2 Turbo; there's only so much appeal a 4-banger can have (and so much power it can take).... So irrespective of how good that might have seemed, you just cannot beat a V-formation engine - or replace cubic capacity for real petrol-headed enjoyment....

I have something to say............ It's better to burn out than to fade away..... :tt2:

I think that's a matter of opinion. My old MR2 was incredibly quick and great cornering in the dry. A 4 banger sounds awesome with the right exhaust and a screamer pipe.

Personally if someone said to me now they would swap my 300zx with my old MR2 I would snap their arm off.

I am not saying the 300zx is worse, it's just the MR2 was more fun.

There is a replacement for displacement, a bigger turbo and a good map.

My MR2 sounded pretty good and went quite well too....

I don't doubt that in any way mate - but for me, an in-line 4-cylinder will always have limited appeal..... Even though I *might* have considered the mighty AMG45 or new Golf R as a daily driver, another V6 just got the better of me - and only then, because I kept my sensible head on and resisted the urge to fulfil my desire for full-on V8 ownership....
