With 44 days till JAE, and a lot of work going on at wicksteed park in preparation, it took awhile but im finally able to post information about it.

Wicksteed park has undergone a lot of renovation work this year, which meant until it was complete i didnt know if our plot had changed or not. im happy to say we are still in the same plot of land we have had for the past 3 years running now, which is on the left as you enter the JAE event.

Ticket prices have changed, where they used to be £25 advanced ticket, its now £30, you can also come and set up on the Thursday (regardless who you are, it used to be support and club set up guys only) with the extended weekend camping pass (Thursday to Sunday) now priced at £35, day tickets are still available, and the same rule applies as previous years, Jap cars only for stands, all other country makes are resigned to the secured public carpark just outside the event.

Tickets are available here http://www.japcarclub.org/index.php/ticket

Again JAE will be hosting a list of activities for clubs to participate in

Tug Of War Battles

Dragon Boats

Five-a-side football tournament

Endurance competition

Japanese Food and Drink eating competition

Car Pull

Bungee Challenge

Inflatable Jousting

Time Attack Go Karting

Two man relay race

For more info, please visit here http://www.japcarclub.org/index.php/club-information/events-and-activities

As per usual the club will provide a BBQ for the cooking of food and supply a mix of foods to eat, please remember we are not offering to feed you for the weekend and its advisable to bring your own food and drink as well, Tea and coffee will be available

Please get your names down for this event so we have an idea of numbers in attendance.

I do, plus it will be the first Long-ish drive its been on since the engine went in. I could spend the morning tomorrow swapping the GT525's for my stock turbos lol just to rule out the turbos.

  • Author
You could do that in a morning? cripes!

yeah, practiced getting the turbos off the spare engine close to a wall to simulate changing the turbos under the car with the engine in, drivers is a bit fiddly but doable. plus i modified some tools to help get to the bolts and nuts lol

jae this year looks like total trash, no one going, no good bbq like it was years ago, bring back Hamster, this guy could cook and always had a full menu for all, not a tasteless burger and a sausage,

Food is not the reason to go there :)

Now that is not the attitude Chris and this year we are having the best burgers money can buy

there is absolutely NOTHING stopping you bringing your own top up foods instead of expecting the club and me who pays for his own ticket to run around after every one, cooking your own food. As for tasteless burgers and sausages, ill be sure to give the local butcher who slaved away making hand made burgers and sausages your opinion on his food.

If I can get there on Sunday morning, can I park amongst the Zeds in the allotted area?

Or will I have to park up in the public car park?

Not wanting to start an argument Chris, but that statement seemed a bit harsh.

I've never been and can't make it again this year but I expect that whoever is doing the BBQ may take this as a kick in the teeth considering they are doing it out of the kindness of their heart.

As for the food, its free ain't it? I'd just be greatful that you are a member of such a great club that they provide you with a free lunch, or if you really feel strongly about it, bring your own.

You would have to ask on the gate, but usually as its the Sunday and most people are leaving they usually allow people to park on the stands as there is no risk of people staying over night as its the last day.

Cheers Ian.

If I were to get there early would there still be much going on?

Ie would there still be food and drink available along with many members still in attendance?

What sort of time does the event fizzle out?

Usually pretty empty by around 3 - 4ish, but there are a lot of clubs that come from miles around so you might have to fight a cue of traffic leaving even early on Sunday. BBQ will still be there as will tea and coffee get there early would be the best bet.

Blimey! do the club members only concern themselves with what to fill their stomachs with? If I wanted to just go for the burgers I'd go to Maccy D's drive thru!

I've left it a bit last minute for this one but hoping to come along anyway so you might get a Z33 interloper for a bit sorry! But please save me a burger else I'll have a tantrum and cancel my subscription ;)
