...my lodger had gone off on his hols and nobody was in the house and all the doors were locked.

I've got a nightvision security camera that emails me whenever anything sets it off and usually it's pointed out the window at the drive looking for pikeys but i'd moved it to get something off the window sill and forgot to point it back.

After i'd gone to bed it picked this up about the same time i heard a bump from downstairs and assumed it was the cats who were locked in the kitchen.

Got to work and found this email....

WHAT THE SWEET MERCIFUL CHRIST IS THAT AND WHY IS THERE A SHADOW OF HEAD AND SHOULDERS BEHIND IT !!!?!??!?

Fly fishing by J R Hartley ?????........lol

Watching my Z disintegrate on my driveway!!!

In honesty I'd never read it, not because I'm not interested, I am, I just cannot sit and read a book. It's something I really struggle with, been that way for many years now.

My mother is a firm believer in the supernatural and one of my best friends in a very devout Christian. It used to cause friction when I was younger and more pig headed, even as a small child I never took to the idea of heaven etc. As I've got older I've listened I've learnt, I actually attempted to read the New Testament at one stage so I could reply yes when asked, as mentioned though I cannot sit and read a book. I'm a big thinker it doesn't do much good, to the point of stages if depression really. With being an only child, perusing individual past times and working on my own 90% of the time I've had lots of time alone to think. Eventually i stopped thinking negatively and sort of found an odd peace in my conclusion. To put it simply I sat down for literally years did the maths, sat back and went, "no, to me that makes no sense"

I'm always happy to discuss my thoughts but I won't often divulge them without prompting. I'm not one of those people that will sit there and tell you your wrong, it's your opinion and your life. It's people who say "this is what I believe so therefore it's correct" that I take a bit of gripe with.

I'm trying to be honest here, as there is little point in anything else

private eye jeff. and his flying cat brilliant

Ghost hunter extraordinaire Jeff, to be sure.... Sounds the most plausible explanation to me as well.

I have personally never seen a ghost but I won't dismiss their existence, since there are plenty of alleged sightings over the centuries to suggest there might be something in it. I met a really interesting fellow at our hotel in Cornwall last month - an author and president of the ghost club - he's a nice chap, well into his 90s now, but on our last day, he handed us a signed, dedicated copy of one of his books! I'm reading it with interest at the moment...

And if you do think there might be ghostly activity in your house, forget the priest/exorcist or whatever - that's just religious mumbo-jumbo and, whilst I respect what religion means to most people, the purported "facts" behind most structured religions are no more (but probably less in fact) credible than the existence of ghosts, UFOs et al. Just get yourself a spirit house for the "ghost" to live in.... Saw the idea in the Museum of Witchcraft....

I have something to say............ It's better to burn out than to fade away..... :tt2:

Well thanks for being open and honest. Jan has been reading a lot of books about Many bodies one soul and previous lives etc and it's very interesting

That's the one Steve - we always stay in Boscastle when we're in Cornwall and have visited the museum many times over the years

Richard Religious mumbo jumbo it may be but Jan's dad was a minister and was called on to some exorcisms And what he exorcised was REAL

I was referring to the religious element, not what may or may not have been exorcised..... Hence my comment that any evidence supporting the truth behind many structured religions is probably less credible than that for the existence of ghosts etc:wink:

So I'll not disagree with your comment; what was exorcised may have been real, but IMO the religious bit of the process is mumbo jumbo. In my personal opinion, IE why does it specifically require a minister, priest, etc, to exorcise a spirit?

Probably because they have a greater understanding of what is needed.....

Maybe? Maybe it's simply because of peoples' basic deep rooted beliefs in [a] religion, that all ghosts and sprits are fundamentally evil; therefore the only way to counter that is with "good"

That's the bit I question - the God and Devil aspect. The mediaeval attitude that anything questioning all that Christians hold as holy is heresy; and therefore must be evil and attributed to Satan! If there are such manifestations as ghosts and spirits, then any psychic, practicing witch etc is surely just as qualified for the job as a priest! And surely not all spirits are evil and need exorcising....

All my opinion of course - I will keep an open mind pending further credible evidence either way. Plus it's time for my bed:wink:

See you Saturday mate!
