Hi lads,

Purchased a lovely little manual boost control valve from Noz.

Where is the best place to install it on a Zed?

I'm trying to connect up this valve, still lol!

Up in the top left hand corner of the engine bay, there is a little black rectangular box with a single vac hose coming from the bottom of it, I think this is the one Noz mentioned where I attach the MBC to?

There is also another little box further down underneath in the same area with two vac hoses coming out the side and also a hose underneath from it, just again want to make sure I am connecting it to the correct thing.

Also where exactly do I connect a boost gauge to?

Cheers.

Thanks mate, that shows the boost sensor that I require perfectly.

Noz, you should get a bespoke Z32 kit together with installation guide or make a guide on here and make a sticky.

Yeah, that's the plan :)

Yeah, that's the plan :)

It would definitely make it easier for guys like me that have a little bit of knowlege but not that much clearly lol.

I just assumed the valve would go in without any extra items, didn't need much extra just the clips/clamps for the hose, the silicone hose itself and some joiners/t pieces.

Had a little drive in the car today, the aftermarket boost gauge still needs plumbed in, so can't adjust boost yet, but can already see that the boost comes on so much faster just with this small valve attached, can't wait to get the car running a proper bar of boost.

It's chipped and setup for a bar of boost, but will be getting a remap of some kind in the near future once funds allow.

So installed the aftermarket boost gauge today.

Screwed the bolt out so that would boost be be lower or so I thought, then I could screw in and get the boost to 14psi, but on the first try it went right upto 15 and would have kept going.

Is there anything else I can to get the boost lower as other than screwing the bolt out to lower boost there doesn't seem to be?

So did you try adjusting the bolt further anti-clockwise?

Remove the boost controller altogether and connect the pressure source directly to the actuators to determine the base boost pressure.

If I adjust it any further, the bolt will fall out mate, it's near the end already.

So remove the MBC, then would I remove the 2 t pieces and use a joiner in place of the two of them?

Replace the MBC with a joiner.

YHave you got the MBC the correct way round? Post a picture.

The end of the MBC that is inline with the bolt is connected to the two hoses that are t pieced together from the wastegates, and the end that is at a 90 degree angle is t pieced into the boost sensor?

I have a pic but can't load it as I'm having trouble, one of those days!

Replaced the MBC with a joiner, it's boosting at 9ish PSI.

When i fitted my boost controler i removed all the pipe work and run new lines from both acuators because i thought the brass restictors in the factory pipes from the acuators would play havoc with boost controller settings, driverside was a nightmare took hours removing steering uj etc could i have just left these restictors in then and used the factory lines and spliced into them.

The way you have it set up will give unlimited boost (and a very small vac leak through the MBC bleed hole!). If you look at the instructions that came with it, you'll see that the pressure source goes to the connector OPPOSITE the adjuster.

Also, it would be better to have the MBC outlet tee'd into the actuator lines at an equal distance from both actuators. The way you have, it is closer to the driver's side than the passenger side.

Noel, do you think. The manual controllers are better than the electronic ones?

Back to front :)

Cheers mate.

Car is in the garage now.

Will switch it round and also make the distances equal tomorrow.

They do pretty much the same thing without the in-car adjustability at a much cheaper price. I use them on all my cars, but I had the Profec B Spec 2 on the MR2 Turbo. The latest model Profec is very good.

Swapped the valve round today and also adjusted the hoses as instructed, still didn't control boost!

I then decided to take the bolt out and have a look at the spring, it wasn't sitting straight and instead was curled at a 90 degree angle down into the other valve end, so couldn't do it's job, took it out sat it back in straight, hey presto boost control :)
