MONDAY, Collected my import from garage (SVA) after doing work for MOT (passed!):dance:

 

TUES, Parked Z up following day, Battery flat!:confused1:

 

WED Recharged battery.

 

THUR Reconnected battery to see why drain, Rear lights will not go off!!:(

 

SVA Have replaced front foglight bulbs (because mine were BLUE) looked good but they said its illegal!

 

Taking it back to them this afternoon for them to check.:rolleyes:

 

Any ideas what has happened? Even on when ignition off! Electrics nightmare!

 

Waiting for number from DVA. Hope soon on road.:clap:

What work did you do for the SVA? Did you wire in an auxiliary fog light? Is your fog light button on or off? If you have side markers, some JDM models can be illuminated as part of a 'park function' with the ignition off. They'll work without the keys in the ignition. Press your fog light button on the right hand pod and see if they turn off. Key doesn't need to be in the ignition.

Everything worked as it should before! (Except blue front fogs.)

F/fogs on with switch, both blue fogs on, then switch side lights on & offside blue fog turned white!

So SVA have said they have change front fogs to white but not sure how or what they have done cos off side is 4x brighter than nearside fog?

 

Did not know that back lights were on all the time. So I parked up having collected car from SVA on Monday.

 

Thats the only electrical component that had to be done for MOT. Rear fog has seperate feed.

 

The rear lights are my side lights but will check all combinations.

When you said 'rear sidelights' I was assuming the corner markers.

 

Not totally following you. SVA have only swapped out the bulbs and you've wired in a separate feed for the rear fog lights?

 

So your rear lights are on, but NOTHING else? Not even front side lights?

Just want to check you are aware that the front fog lights also contain the side lights.

 

So there are 2 bulbs in each unit. One is a sidelight 501 bulb, the other is the main fog bulb.

It was a good comination to see my front fogs blue then the offside front fog turn white when I put the side lights on:D

That's strange. Probably an earthing fault or they've wired in a permanent live or something. Where did they take the live feed from for the fog light and where's its return?

 

TBH, they should fix it if they've fooked it up.

I think they must have done something with the wiring too!

Driving without number plates is abit weird but if stopped Ill show the bill my MOT fail, my pass certificate is with DVA.

 

As im booked in apparently legal?

Legal to drive to the MOT station where the car is booked for test.

 

Still illegal to drive the car without number plates (unless trade plates present).

Worth checking your rear brake light switch under the pedal.

It maybe stuck thus illuminating the rear lights even with the ignition off.

Now Thats an idea!

There was some round plastic pin/stud on my drivers mat yesterday.

Picked it up looked at it & threw it out:ohmy: did not think it was anything so maybe that!

Sounds promising, maybe the switch/brake pedal could have been incorrectly set and has become damaged.

Post a wanted add, I am sure someone on here will help.
