Car hopefully back on the road tomorrow - MOT looming!

Well it's been under a cover for the past 18 months since I bought it but the red shorty is going back on the road tomorrow.

Insurance sorted with Footman James - 5000 miles a year, all mods declared including coilovers, personal use plus commuting: £263 quid(!)

Started it up for the first time in a few months yesterday and ran perfectly, fixed all the loose bodywork, just the horn to wire in tonight and it's ready to go!

Just hope the plates arrive in time tonight! Excited! :hyper:

I'm spending a couple of weekends on panel alignment, fitting things, then off to visit peach for a bit of TLC in the next couple of weeks :)

Excited indeed. What year is the beast?

It's a 1990 slicktop Twin Turbo mate, Daffy's old car - manual conversion to do yet and the front end needs sorting and respraying to its former glory but should be show ready for next summer! In the meantime - time to enjoy driving a zed again :hyper:

Good luck :clover:

Cheers buddy :)

Well fate has intervened - I was getting the volvo mot'd today and it needed the front wishbone bushes doing so they offered to do that and reset the airbag light so I asked them to do that.

Inadvertently they upset the cage around the bearings of the driveshaft and it split in two leaving me stranded in derby.

The guys came out, picked me up, towed the car back, whipped the lower arm off and found the bearings floating loose inside the box. Managed to recover everything, they're fixing it gratis, lent me a car till its done and as way of apology have offered to fix and recharge the aircon (!)

Fantastic service seeing as I was only going in for an mot.

Bad news is that's pushed the zed back to Friday now :(

Very nice Nick but please fit the new front plate a bit lower :)

Great news bud. Can't wait to see what you do to it. Still miss the car on a daily basis. Glad it's in safe hands :thumbup1:

And 3/4 the size lol

Great news mate. About time you were back in a zed. :thumbup1:

You too Daffy!!

If only mate. Bought a house that transpires is as rotten as a rusty Zed. One thing after another!! Glad Nick has the car now, he can give it the love it deserves. And I know he'll make it the car it always should of been. Manual ftw!!

Sorry to hear that mate. You'll soon get it sorted though.. And yeah, your old one is in safe hands.. Unless, Nick goes for another v8 conversion with one of those huge blowers that come out the bonnet..lol

It's got a fair bit of work to bring it back to where you had it buddy but i'm on the case the next twelve months :)

Hahaha no chance of that - the amount i spent on that V8 project i'll never get back. Just a nice tidy TT will do me now

...yep that didn't happen. Managed to blow a fuse in the lighting circuit last night (i'm assuming the 3rd from the left in the footwell) and the lights ended up on permanent main beam so had to bail on the MOT this morning.

I found a wire running to the back from under the dash that i assumed had been used to connect the fog light to a switch on the dash, daffy might know what that was connected to if he's about? There was also a live 12v cable under there with a connector on the end which i assumed was what it was fed on?

I'll feed it off the main fogs i think like i did the V8 to be sure this time!

All booked in for tomorrow - just hope it is that fuse that caused the problem! :(

It was indeed for the fogs mate. Assume the switch is still there? I used it with the led fog conversion but think that has since been sold? Good luck for tomorrow pal.

Ahh that could be why it popped the fuse - I was using a normal bulb which would possibly overload the fuse. I'll stick it on the normal fogs switch - im planning on removing them anyway when I sort the bumper out :)

Unfortunately I've changed all the interior for new panels plus there was no fog light on the back when I got it so assuming someone half inched it :D

Cheers for letting me know buddy.

Not me!!

The car was MOTd when I had it so never took it for one. Only the VIC check.

Dont bother blaming me. I only put a cheap Motor factor one on to make the car road legal as the reg was coming off anyway.

Blame Daffy ....... he smashed the original one:tt2:

Haha I didn't think it would have been you mate - I think in all honesty it was taken off after the mot leaving the hole behind.

You did a cracking job getting everything to fit again mate and the car is superb. Been out for a spin tonight in it and worth every penny. Will have to pop up and see you if you're about this weekend Pete?
