Personally I would put it back on or get a new one mate. I wouldn't want to risk it with fresh paint.. Think how gutted you'd be if it did bubble..

I was thinking of getting a silver heat shield as follows :

that looks shite mate... sorry...

It's not a heat shield. It's a fire blanket, mine's going back on. JoelyP and I are getting brand new ones at some point. Bare bonnet frame is not exactly appealing either.

Where you getting them from and how much do you think they cost ?

I would rather buy new, I've asked MJP for a quote but if they could be cheaper on a group buy I would be up for that.

Mirrored bonnets look tacky IMO.

I think we're going to be getting them from the US. We are also going to see whether Mike can do anything with them as Ollie is after one too.

BG only put that on so he could check his hair and medallions at shows...

I had respray a year ago and my car is my daily drive and i removed this shield it makes no difference to engine temp or paint work under bonnet

That's because it isn't a heat shield as I have already said. It's a fire blanket. It's designed to smother the top of the engine when the clips holding it back melt.

That is a brilliant bit of design. Label it up as "NISMO AUTO DEPLOY FIRE BLANKET" coolest mod at the show straight away, beat any Supra boys. Go Nissan :)

Maybe something Ferrari and Porsche could look in to....:whistling:

they don't need them lol
