I rather dislike the headunit in my car it looks out if keeping, out of place and tbh is useless, I never turn it on. Is there a way I can either reinstall the original tape player and or attach some kind of hidden mp3 device? I could then mount three gauges in there without loosing the cubby hole. Bet you weren't expecting that.

Go buy a good mans stereo and retro fit some club pa speakers in the boot, who needs cubby holes when you can have crackly bass blasting out the t tops ;-)

What...??

Any decent single DIN head unit - if fitted properly with the brackets, behind the dash, looks fine. As long as it is of black finish to match the surrounding trim.... Unless you do a major conversion involving re-fabricating the surrounding dash, you're not going to achieve the completely built in look seen in modern cars Steve!!

I have something to say............ It's better to burn out than to fade away..... :tt2:

That is easy....... 4 channel amp hidden away with a bluetooth audio input device connected to it.......... hell you could even run a3.5mm jack to 2 RCA adapter from an iPod, mobile phone, etc..... directly into it.....

That sounds just the ticket, hopefully these can be a tiny object right?

Just to dig this up, I appears my cd is broken anyway. Doesn't turn on and the fuse hasn't blown, il check the power supply at the rear somewhen but it's probably dead. Now I think il be popping a three gauge do dar in that position and binning the stereo. Which obviously leaves the speakers redundant, so a connection for an IPod in the glovebox with a hidden amp would allow me to play music still if I ever wanted, without the clutter of the headunit or CDs. So how would I go about this?

You could always use one of these....

You could have the connections in the glovebox for iPhone, aux input and usb.... it would also work via bluetooth for music and handsfree phone....

It also gives you a usb phone charger and iPhone charger....

Has a built in 20w amplifier.......

just a thought......
