I'm right on the edge of ordering some new wheels from the States, but could do with some thoughts on the fitment before I fork out for them. I've seen them on a couple of zeds in this size, and I would like to have an idea of what is required and what to expect when it comes to fitting them on. I will soon have coilovers fitted and looking at adjustable arms.

19 x 9.5 et22 Front

19 x 10.5 et22 Rear

Any input greatly appreciated :)

The diameter is irrelevant mostly, as you will maintain the rolling radius and therefore overall diameter with the true profile. The offset is simply the factor by which the hub face is off centre of the wheel. So If you had offset 0 the Hubface would be bang in the centre line often wheel. So for example if you have positive offset the hub will sit further towards the outter rim, this in turn makes the outter face closer or further away from previous wheel depending on it's size.

If you take the wheels width in mm, divide it by two and add or subtract your offset you will get a number that tells you where the outter face will be. There are calculators to do this online if you prefer.

At stock height et22 in those widths is going to hang out a bit, but as the far gets lower the wheel is pulled into the arch. I believe a et22 rear in that width is quite popular. The front I'm not so sure. Funki is pretty good at the whole wheel fitment buisness so it's worth chatting with him. Alternatively the yanks are far better at getting wheels to sit right than us so directing the question to the guys at 300zxclub.com should yeild some pretty helpfull replies, there is Infact a running there there called will these wheels fit that might give you the answer without asking the question.

It depends what you want from the car really, those offsets will go on with arch work but you will sacrifice drivability. Back to the form/function dilemma! Having them in 19" won't help as you will not be able to maintain the rolling radius and they will rub quite a lot on full lock (you won't be able to get full lock, unless you start removing things and chopping up/removing the liners). You will need to dial in a fair amount of camber into the rears to tuck them in after a roll and pull.

I assume you know they'll stick out rather a lot both front and rear.

By comparison, those BBS of mine with effective 10j ET20 rear, 9j ET17 front, stick too much IMO. Even with the bodged roll & flare at the rear they still stuck out and rubbed. The tyres were also slightly stretched.

According to an offset calculator the rears will protrude another 4mm on my example rear and 1mm at the front.

The front aren't too bad TBH, its the rears that are obviously too much without a proper arch work.

have to say baz am not a fan of 19s on the 300zx 18s looks better and drive better.

For the SWB I agree 18's look better, but for the LWB, I think the 19's are more in proportion. Don't get me wrong, 18's still look the part with the right stance, that said, we all have our own individual tastes.

Also, I changed from 18's to 19's and the drive was no different.

Thanks for the input guys, to be honest I drive the car that little and it's not chucked around, but I want to look cool as fook and it will on these rims! I'm not fussed about messing around with arch liners and minor arch mods, but I do want the car to stand out. Look at my old car for example lol

@lonezedder.. I don't think I'll be ordering until yours have finished... ;)

have always found a cars that was never made for massive wheels always felt a but funny when going from a 16 or 17 to a 19 I think the 19 look a bit like a clown car as for 20s well just looks odd . I have seen a few 19 that look good but 18s for me all day long

fronts will be ok ie minor work

rears will be a pita unless you put stupidly thin tires on. I had 305/30 on a 19x10.5 et35, that took roll, pull, and flare to avoid any rubbing
