If it's the one I think it's you're Cats overheating.

if it is ithen how do i go about fixing it?

Not sure - i think this was a Japan only thing - never seen it on a UK car yet - could be wrong tho.

Check the ECU for Errors - could be the error signal comes from the EGS sensors which should show up on the ECU. Other wise check for sensors on the Cats and check the connections and spray with Lubricant - also check for a sensible reading if you have a Multimeter handy.

I would suspect that you have badly damaged or blocked Cats if the above is true.think about gutting them if you have a TT Pre 92 or if you have a NA check for Spares or get a New set from Nissan (pricey!).

This happened with mine soon after I bought it. It's just that they are old and seem to get hotter. It's not important. Just look under the middle centre console and you'll see the two braided steel cables coming from the sensors. Just unscrew them, and voila.. no more bugging light.

I wouldn't recommend that too highly Stu.

Over heating Cats equall Nice Hot Gases making there way back into the cylinders !

On a TT this is really not a good senario to have lots of powerloss and increaed tempratures - Over heating is usually caused by damaged catalyst which will decrease flow rate and increase temprature.

You will probably be OK - but if you are conservative i would seriously look are gettin it fixed !

Top bit is "Warning: Sidewinder snakes crossing"...LOL!

Bottom bit is "Warning: Two trains parked nose to nose"...LMAO!

Sorry, had to be done!

Is the car running lumpy under acceleration as mine did this (before I removed the cats) when the coil pack connector was lose on one of my plugs and it was basically not sparking and there fore feeding petrol to the cat, subsequently it got rather hot, mine used to go out if you drove slowly

The other time I have seen it was when the cat sensors had got rather wet and started shorting.

Guys I must be missing something here what light does the post refer to? is it a fault code blink on the engine management light?

Jeff TT

Nexus you are right, that is exactly how my car is running. after about 5mins driving the chuggy movement stops and the ride smooths out again. When I accelerate fairly hard the light comes on the then goes off a few seconds after I lift of the gas.

This warning also shows if unburnt fuel makes it's way into the cats which rather then cooling them causes them to over heat. The sensors are basically just lamda probes and it is and indication that all isn't well. Check and clean your air filter and check your O2 sensors because when they start to die they run rich.

To stop it happening on mine I cleaned all the coil connectors and the power transistor connectors with an electical contact cleaner, the back two coil connectors are awkward though as the balance tube gets in the way. This solved my problem, and its probably the cheapest first course of action.
