Car's been sat for a little over 2mths now with clutch problems. Managed to sort that but needed to jump the car each time to get it in/out of the garage.

Took it for a 40min drive today and when I got home tried testing the battery by simply restarting the engine and it's still flat as a pancake. I would think that with a 40min drive it should have taken some charge!

Not sure why but would this be pointing to a new battery. Thus one's had no problems whatsoever since I put it in about 4+ years ago.

Can anyone recommend a place to get a battery? Also - can anyone remind me of the spec we need as I can't find the paperwork at the moment!

On a related note - I had the Anti-Lock light come on during the test drive - never had this before. Brake fluid is still full so presume it's a sensor fault - searched on here and found the ABS diagnostic so will try that once I can get the engine started again!

I don't I'm afraid...

Just found my receipt for the last one though dated Dec '08. Should be lasting much longer than 5yrs though! Any other parts involved in charging that are likely to fail by the car just sitting for a few months??

5 years is not a bad life for a car battery, Eurocar parts and costco are good on battery prices, 068 I think, does your current battery still have it's code on.

Got an email from eurocarparts earlier with 50% off batteries. You'll need to check if it's the correct on for the Zed though. Worth a look.

Edit: just looked up 068 as mentioned above

Seems a good price for a Bosch with 4 year guarantee?

The battery doesn't have the code on but found the paperwork from the order and it has 088 which I believe is interchangeable with 068 (and 030??).

That Eurocarparts looks similar to what I paid previously though the site suggests an 031 for the 300zx. Odd.

As I can't get the car started to even run the multimeter I think I'll just go for this.

Thanks for the help!

Hello mate, Costco do the Bosch S5 battery if that's of any use to you? Was around £80 IIRC

Quick search on their website didn't yield any results - do you have any links?

I've reserved the S4 that Daffy linked above so having it collected later this morning.

If you have got power (mains) where you store the car, get yourself a battery conditioner/charger.

I really would love one but unfortunately the garage is en bloc so no access to mains power.
