Finally got around to doing a boost leak test the other weekend, was surprised at how easy it was to do. however didn't have much time with the compressor so it was just a quick test, and surprise surprise I have leaks. a couple at the top but that just appears to be where the connection has weakened due to old 24 year old hose. But there sounded like there was a big one at the back of the engine, definitely louder from the top than the bottom though so I don't think it's from the turbo's themselves although I could be wrong.

Is there a decent diagram of just the boost system? just to make it easier to find possible leak points?

I started panicking thinking it was a cracked head, but thought surely I'd see a greater performance loss.

Also anybody got a link to order some boost hose? I tried to order some red a silicone a year or two ago and unfortunately it was too big, and never bothered again after that.

Any help or advice greatly appreciated as always.

There's a few generic diagrams but the rats nest of vac lines can become confusing. Get some fairy and mix up some as if you were making bubble juice for kids. Paint it on gently so as not to froth it, to the area you think it may be coming from, where it's leaking will throw up bubbles. A very clear and easy way to pin point those pesky little leaks.

yeah that was my next step, I had some there to do it, but because it was only supposed to be a quick test we didn't have time. I'd have to start removing the power lead and other bits in that general area.

I'll hopefully get another chance over the weekend.

Theres a reverse procedure for finding boost leaks higher up the motor around plenum area...let the motor idle so its pulling vacume and spray directed jets of brake cleaner around suspect areas. Iff the idle increases you have a leak:winkiss:
