Hello amigos, some of you might have spotted my earlier thread asking for some history about this Zed, after some digging and viewing I decided to buy her :)

My name is Natalie, i'm from Blyth near Newcastle in the NE of England, I drove a Honda Integra DC5 as my daily but i've been after a RWD summer fun car for a while, this lovely lady came along and I was smitten

She was a trade-in to JM Imports, got her for an absolute bargain. Drove her straight to get new tyres on the front as they were badly needed and going to book her MOT next week, She is NA manual with a remap, BC suspension

As far as I can tell she is somewhat well known and might have been spotted at Japfest etc.

No dis-respect to her previous owner but there are some major changes I am making to get her to how I want her. I'm going to remove the sound system entirely (sorry..I appreciate hard work has gone into this but I really do not like them..not for me and can think of better things to use the money for), strip out the rear seats and get harnesses in, bought 99 spec rear lights and will be putting them in shortly as well as a smooth nose panel. Also may eventually swap the wheels for plain black spoke or chrome alloys.

I also should point out she will eventually be taken to Teesside and surrounding areas for drifting. I was told by a few members that this would not go down well..but I am very opinionated on cars- there will always be someone who doesn't like what you do with your own, but it's your car to do with as you please. She has 89k on the clock, I suspect this is in KM, it's time this little lady got out and saw some of the world :)

She's immaculate underneath, drives like an absolute dream, no bumps or noises. Needs new passenger door seal, paint and trim has not been well looked after (she's a respray from silver) so will be giving her a fill polish and wax next weekend. Also got a high level wing coming next month to go on. I love BGW

I'm absolutely over the moon today and so so happy to finally be a Zed owner :D Praying tomorrow is sunny and warm so I can get the roof panels off and go for a nice long drive. Onto the pictures, apologies they are such bad quality I will get a proper shoot of her with my DSLR once she's tidied up:

OMG what a beauty, and from my old stomping grounds, used to live in Gosforth and Cramlington and went to Blyth pool... When you get rid of the horrible looking piece of mangled plastic called a front panel, i might be able to take it off your hands so you wont need to look at it anymore.... promise i wouldn't charge you to much..

Haha, nice one! I'll be selling it for £20 plus postage.. yours if you want it ;)

There was some confusion a while back as to wether this car was turbo or non turbo. Maybe that might explain the descrepancy, an NA rear diff with a TT box would have speedo reading off...

PLUS postage... even for a fellow geordie..

ZX300

My father keeps calling it that, despite telling him for nearly a decade that it's a 300zx.....he still calls it a ZX300!

Wasn't that just down to thrower the guy was claiming though

Thrower? Lol I guess that was a typo for "power" but yeah, he was claiming 300 odd hp from an NA. It all got a bit side tracked and confusing, never did get to the bottom of it due to the language barrier.

It's definately nowhere near 300. I would say 210-220 at a rough guess

Still worried about this speedo though :( I don't really drive stupidly over limits but need to sort it for local 30mph cameras

Down load a speedo app for your phone or dig out the sat nav to see what speed your actually doing. At least then you can see what's going on.

  • Author

I've got my sat nav set-up for that at least now, just need to work out what's going on with it

I'll tell you what I think. I reckon, because the original owner though it was faster than a TT he has swapped the clock face only to a MPH face but the speedo is still in KMS. The MPH clock face would normally have the KMS in small on it. Get up to 62 ish and see if your speedo says 100.

I definately think that's the issue, the ratio seems very close to KM-MPH, I've got an app on my phone i'll watch what it says at 30, 40, 60 etc. tomorrow

Welcome to the forum Natalie, the car's looking better already and its good to see someone else taking arty-farty Z pics not just driveway pics!

My father keeps calling it that, despite telling him for nearly a decade that it's a 300zx.....he still calls it a ZX300!

Well thats what happens when you get old like me and your dad, anyway ZX300 rolls off the tongue better...

Is that turbo murial grafiti piece in your garage? Cars always take a good picture in front of grafiti, I spose it's because it makes them look a bit naughty, as a zed should be

It's in the place where the detailing company i'm taking her to this weeked is based

They have loads more around the wall- she's getting a wet sand polish and wax I'll be getting some artsy fartsy pics of the finished results I'll post them up :)

There's a Zed car meet in Boro this Sunday if you're interested Nat?

Is that this Sunday...? Hmmm...

  • 2 weeks later...

I cant seem to figure out how to send a PM:confused1:

Congratulation on the new car Natalie

I have also just purchased a new zed and tomfromthenorth suggested a good idea. My zed has a locked diff on it, which makes it a bit twitchy at normal driving. I understand you are going to be drifting your zed, so was wondering if you would be up for maybe swapping the diffs?

I just want the standard one back, so the car is more drivable for normal use.
