Who would have thought 4 bits of plasrtic for a fiver would make such a difference.

Well i bought my alloy wheels 2nd hand last year and fitted them straight away but not having driven many miles or at speed for some time its only since i started running my car this year i noticed quite a bad vibration from the front end over 60mph. had the car aligned and all the wheels rebalanced to no avail until after some tinternet research turned up some comments about plastic spigot rings.

I must confess all the alloys ivehad in the past on all my cars have ben more or less a direct fit so ive never come across these rings before.

So while on fleabay i came across a set for £4.95 posted so took a punt and bought a set.

So they arrived, a nice purple colour too so fitted them and took the car on a run to shrewsbury and guess what virtually no vibration at all.

So big result as i was that fed up of how crap the quality of the drive was before i was planning to get rid of the wheels and go back to my stock JDM ones and see if the vibration was still evident.

Car now drives super nice well over the limit so lesson learned and i can now have the wheels refurbed in the shadow chrome finish i wanted so happy days

I was dreading driving to the early shows this year but now i cant wait.

M8 just remember when you get tyres changed etc that the tyre place put them back on, some of them have a habit of forgetting to put them back on and throwing them in DA BIN.

Hi Trev problem is i never had them in the first place, i went from std JDM alloys that dont need them to the team dynamic Mania wheels i have now that didnt come with them as they were 2nd hand.

Ive never come across the need for them before so just had em fitted not knowing any different. Well i do now.

Me too tom i was starting to get ready to toss em in the bin to be honest the car drove that badly. Once i get another pirelli p zero on the near side wheel it should be about perfect.

The tyres it has on now have quite an agessive tread pattern and make too much road noise for my taste but im sure someone can use them ill put em up for sale later.

Runway 235/35/19 .s at least 6-7 mm tread or more they are nearly new

I would say there is quite a few drivers out there who buy wheels needing spigot rings. Lucky for me mine came with rings for the rears.

They look exactly the same as the ones i bought gaz

I need some, rather quickly actually I just don't what size to buy.

Just whip a wheel off and measure the diameter of the centre hole and the diameter of the flange on the hub that should give you a good idea.

I bought 73.1 66.1 ones

66.1mm is the standard bore of the hub, measure the inside diameter of the alloy to give you the other measurement needed. Most after market alloys likely need spigot rings unless specific to the Z32.

I had this problem to when I swapped my alloys from my old zed to my new one didn't notice that one had stayed on the old car done my head in for ages till I noticed it

Yup - it is amazing isn't it....

...When I first had my new wheels fitted, the tyre place didn't bother with them (but at least they handed them back); saying that the tapering of the wheelnuts would hold the rims in place OK. WRONG!!

I re-fitted them myself and the transformation was quite unbelievable!!

Yep Rich its like night and day

Had the same problem a few years ago. Tried everything and vibration was still there only noticed when I was changing my tyres. And since I stuck some rings on it's been running perfect ever since.
