Amazing vanishing clutch fluid...

Well, when i first got the car, the pot was empty, so i topped it up, give it a bleed and all was rosy and dandy, with how my car has been recently, i removed the cap to the clutch slave and low and behold, completely bone dry again, now i know i have never had a leak that has shown its self under the car / engine, there doesnt seem to be anything else out of place on the system, and having a read a thread on the aussy forum (that never got solved) i seem to be having the same issue, although, unlike them where they lose complete use of the clutch, i can still use mine, just the pot is empty and its rather well solid to use.

So, quick one this, where the hell has it gone? and could this be a contributing factor (by some known and down rightly bizarre link) to my idling issues? lol

Thinking at this point to just take the car off the road, strip it down and redo almost everything on it at this rate, been a year of happy motoring with it, and it now looks like this year is the year im going to be spending most of my time and cash sorting issues out.

I know where it's gone because mine did exactly the same...it will be weaping out the master cylinder, down the firewall INSIDE the car hence why you can't see it. Pull back the carpet and feel around the booster bet it's damp.

The resevoir is empty but the cylinder still must be full, not long before that will draw air in though, the leak is on the back seal of the master cylinder, and the fluid will be running inside of your car up the back of the clutch pedal/ booster with the insulation soaking it up.

Nissan UK no longer carry master cylinders, F1 in the US is the best bet find them on US E-bay, and the price difference is huge something like $45 instead of £120!! for the very same part.

Check your clutch booster is not leaking, that can cause uneven idle.

aah, is there a repair for that? pretty sure that would be the thingy failing then inside the clutch master, someone mentioned that in the Aussie thread.

oh jeff posted while i was typing lol

I brought a rebuild kit a few months back, pretty cheap actually. Pretty sure mike supplied it....or maybe it was from Luke.

hahaha, never mind just checked the 300zx year, thats for the z31 that repair kit. but the cylinders are cheap enough on there.

Jeff how do you check for a vac leak on the booster its self?

Looks similar, don't remember that black knob bit though. You literally pop out the circlip spouse out the old on slide in the new one, clip back in..done.

Wrong car mate, thats for the z31 not z32

Easy, pop the pipe off and blow into it ( after the one way valve ) and it should be sealed, or with the engine running clamp the pipe and see if the engine runs differently.
