Guys as we all know the GTO boys have always looked at our cars with envy :) Anyway there are some good guys in their community and I have been discussing ten of the best with a few of them and I have challenged them to a team competition. Yes there will be some big power cars but mostly it will be normal guys with a few mods looking to have a bit of fun. We are thinking a maximum of 8 entries per team to count to the points and we feel that to help it work we will allow Saturday times to count on the 1/4 and top speed run. This means if you only want to do boot camp you will still be part of the team (not handling as the course changes each day).

We are also thinking each entry to donate £10 into the pot and the winning team gets all the money for the charity of their choice. There is also optional £5 head to head pairs if anyone wants it but we will need to clarify fully later. The GTOOC charity is 'justgiving' and we can choose ours if this forum doesn't currently support one. For myself I already support help for heroes but am happy to go along with the rest.

I will share this on my facebook page and will keep the page updated with details.

Have a good think about this guys it's an opportunity to try your hand at 3 disciplines for very little money and see which of our cars is the best all rounder. I often see people suggesting that the zed gets very little respect from the rest of the community and this is a chance to show them how good this car can be. I really do think it will be a great weekend if we can get a decent team together. Yes I will be focussing on doing well but this will help to make it fun as well.

I will be there for the full weekend and can sort out details with Dave Naxton. I would truly like this to work and am more than happy to arrange the event however I would not be able to provide much support on the day. I think we could set up a team area to compete with the best so I am confident we can make it a brilliant weekend.

Yes it's early but can you start thinking about it now and any feedback/offers of help/entries will be appreciated.

Great stuff we need all the help we can get :)

I am still trying to get the handling right and it's taking some time but slowly getting there. We have installed softer springs on the rear to try and get more grip on the handling course but probably gone a bit too soft. One big problem is that I thought the top speed would be a top ten banker but the new PPG fifth gear is 10% lower ratio. Add the NA ratio diff and I'll be lucky to hit 170 :( I'm going to pump the tyres up that might help lol.

Let's hope the weather holds out :)

Yes we thought about it and even thought about a gearbox swap but I've decided to go with what we've got. I think once TOTB is over I will try a TT diff as I think we've got enough power to improve times but we shall see :)

Could you use tyres with an increased profile to alter the rolling radius? If this is completely wrong or stupid go easy on me :confused1: :sweatdrop:

Yes that's what I will be doing :-)

To spectate on the sunday what time should I be arriving, will there be massive queues and is parking straight forward? I will be driving down from the north east on the morning. Thanks guys, I will wear my 300zx T shirt proudly :)

Hi Tom

I don't think the cars start running until 10am ish so im arriving at 9am to get to the pit area set up, chill out and then go to the briefing.

I was a spectator last year but we didn't arrive till lunchtime and there was no queue.

I recon if you aim to get there for 10am your about right, might be a bit of a queue, not bad though I recon.

Parking is on the airfield right next to the tracks so no problems and plenty of space.

If you google earth Elvington airfield you will see the air museum, the event will be on the pan for the time attack and running up the bottom airstrip as you look from above !.

Im sure bob will correct me if ive got owt wrong, look forward to meeting you on sunday mate.

I got my tickets today.

So it was time to put the "motorsport" stickers on the car.

Noz has got the car running really sharp so these stickers will add a few more bhp Im sure:innocent:

Being serious...

I personally think the stickers are a great idea. For me they send out a nice message about the club.

.... and I don't need to:

Noel is sorted and he purchased another guys place (Team change)

Happy Daze! Now I just need to get the engine back in and map the thing. That'll be a fun drive up on the Saturday!

This week has seen the following completed:

Manual Conversion

OSGiken Twin Plate clutch

850cc injectors, Border fuel rail, Aeromotive FPR, braided lines

Solid engine mounts (Thank you Mark @ Automodz)

Twin GT2870 conversion & custom actuator install

EGR & plenum water deletes

To do:

Ensure the new Blow-Through OEM MAF set up works satisfactorily (may run with the turbo compressors open)

Fit the exhaust system - and what an exhaust the front half will be

Fit the Nitto 555s to my new UK rear wheels (Thanks again Mark!)

Fine tune the launch control on the prototype Turbonoz ECU :D

Go Racing!

This is by far the most insane preparation shedule I've ever tried before TOTB. It's usually just a case of me & Damien (pit crew :D ) ripping the interior out and him fabricating seat rails for me! My car has been completely transformed in just 4 evenings and I don't have a clue how it will perform or more importantly, how long for! No time to get it on the dyno, either. All this just for a few runs on Sunday, then it'll all be coming out again to fit the proper T04E turbos.

Why?

Because Racecar :D

fine tuning?

Just checking reliability. Still not perfect and will probably take a further 6 months but it will do for now. Going out for a little run this morning to check a few potential electronic issues and then on the road. Might pop into Pete's for a coffee if he'll have me :)

Glad you like the stickers Pete I think if people see the cars and want to find out more about them they can read about them here so hopefully they see the Motorsport graphic and log into the site. Enjoy the racing guys and look forward to the results.
