Guys as we all know the GTO boys have always looked at our cars with envy :) Anyway there are some good guys in their community and I have been discussing ten of the best with a few of them and I have challenged them to a team competition. Yes there will be some big power cars but mostly it will be normal guys with a few mods looking to have a bit of fun. We are thinking a maximum of 8 entries per team to count to the points and we feel that to help it work we will allow Saturday times to count on the 1/4 and top speed run. This means if you only want to do boot camp you will still be part of the team (not handling as the course changes each day).

 

We are also thinking each entry to donate £10 into the pot and the winning team gets all the money for the charity of their choice. There is also optional £5 head to head pairs if anyone wants it but we will need to clarify fully later. The GTOOC charity is 'justgiving' and we can choose ours if this forum doesn't currently support one. For myself I already support help for heroes but am happy to go along with the rest.

 

I will share this on my facebook page and will keep the page updated with details.

 

Have a good think about this guys it's an opportunity to try your hand at 3 disciplines for very little money and see which of our cars is the best all rounder. I often see people suggesting that the zed gets very little respect from the rest of the community and this is a chance to show them how good this car can be. I really do think it will be a great weekend if we can get a decent team together. Yes I will be focussing on doing well but this will help to make it fun as well.

 

I will be there for the full weekend and can sort out details with Dave Naxton. I would truly like this to work and am more than happy to arrange the event however I would not be able to provide much support on the day. I think we could set up a team area to compete with the best so I am confident we can make it a brilliant weekend.

Sure once Noz does his stuff it will be epic. I did my first ever three years ago and loved it. Sure the whole event will be even more exciting as a proper team.

Yes GTO is Sunday with a limited Saturday option. I would rather join as a team and I am happy to pay TOTB the full amount and get the money back off you guys (not too late though)

So we've got a team which is excellent news :) definitely could do with a few more and we can actually field a team of ten cars. Now that would be good!

 

I am going to kip at Pete's on Friday night and will be getting there early Saturday morning to set up a decent team area. It would be great if anyone can help with this but not essential. Depending on the amount of cars will need to firm this up over the coming weeks. Of course non-competitors are absolutely welcome so need those names too so I can bag enough space. Let me know whose camping etc. We could do with some of the club banners and any other paraphernalia that would help the cause but I will try and bring whatever fits in my truck.

 

Moneywise I usually pay early but I'm talking to Dave and reckon we can pay for the whole team first week in July to ensure no problems. We can sort out these details during the next few weeks.

 

I know Pete is going to attend a few drags over the next few weeks and hopefully as my car progresses (fingers crossed) I will too and if anyone else has any plans let us know so we have the opportunity to get together for some practice early. Keep us updated on this thread please.

I'll be there in the Zed same as last year, or in another Pulsar I'm working on. I've not driven the Zed for a while as it's laid up with a dying Auto 'box. Once that's done, I will be able to confirm which car I'll be taking. I was hoping to have some proper power this time around as the RWD class is much more open than the 4WD class, but time has been against me. I'm not overly keen on entering with exactly the same spec as last year, but I'll see how things go.

Off topic: What power did it make with the stock turbos in the end?

Cool stuff, but ive tried booking accommodation for sat night but coz the tour de france is in town the hotels have all listed galactic prices so looks like ill be driving too and from both days. I would camp but the other half doesnt "do" camping.

New uprated clutch going in next weekend then ill finally try and get to Noz for a fettle coz ii dont think 350bhp will cut it.

Just so you know what we're up against :)

 

Andre Guysler will probably do a sub 10 second mile before his car breaks. He won't manage to make the handling or the top speed but his quarter will probably still be over 140 mph!

 

Mark Flook is running in time attack and hasn't quite got his car sorted but he won't give up and he will be a force to be reckoned with. Bit of an unknown but he will be competitive.

 

Steve Lawtey was in track attack last year but is taking some time out. A good car and a super fast driver I reckon he's the one to beat but like me not a lot of seat time this year.

 

If Ben Hartley (Eurospec boss) enters he'll be quick too but I reckon he'll be too busy looking after his teams cars to even get close to getting his car ready. All the above are Eurospec team cars and while I don't know much about the rest of their team I'm sure they'll be just like us, a little bit nervous, worried they haven't got enough power, and desperate not to get beat by rear wheel drive lol.

 

So we'll be up against it. But those GTO's are too ugly to finish in front of us we just can't let it happen :)
