I have GT525 turbos, if i remove the dump valves completely (dont have a set of recircs) would my turbos be able to handle the extra strain when they stall as the butterfly closes?

Second question.

My after market boost gauge, is now reading just 10psi on full boost, nothing has changed, no settings have been fiddled with and the car still feels like its boosting at 18psi, yet the gauge is now showing a max of 10 instead on full boost ? There is no det sensor wired up, so cant see how it would be in safety mode, though i will check engine codes just to make sure.

Gt525s are simply t28 cores jammed into t25 housings. They are essentially the same turbo as stock hence why they fit so nicely. The system is designed to have a bov within it, albeit a recirculating one. Why do you want to risk it? If you are over the noise fit some stock recircs and if you suspect them to be faulty test them.

It may be worth changing the gauge for a more accurate or known working one if it feels like 18psi not 10 then it's possible as if like to think you would know the difference.

Noz was running his car without any because he liked the noise. I think not having valves is a bit like smoking, its not a good idea, you may never have an issue but chances are it will break something in the long run.

The only difference is, smoking isn't cool, the noise of a closed system is!

I think it's another one of those topics where the people that have done it will tell you it's fine, had no problems and everyone else will tell you to stop being a jerk and keep the factory recircs.

Seemingly, lots of people have deleted pressure relief in the system (across other marques) and very little in the way of horror stories exist. Those that do have issues, much the same as smoking again, you can't really prove that it was the cause 100%.

IMO, it boils down to mileage/condition of the turbos when you do it initially. If they're new then you will more than likely get a decent (rest of your ownership) lifespan out of it but I wouldn't expect the 120k+ life expectancy of the OEM setup.
