Hi Guys, Need some help. Whilst checking out the boot, I've noticed that after pulling the release lever, and going around the back, the boot wont open, I have to go back and wedge open the lever, go back, and then the boot lifts. If I use the key and lift whilst it is turned, the boot will lift. One thing that bugs me is that when using the lever or the key, there is no "click", which I would think is the lock releasing. So, is there something wrong with the mechanism,? I've taken off the lock and looked at it and it seems to operate ok. it even clicks. Any help would be appreciated.

Cheers

Rich

You can adjust the boot lock catch, take off plastic cover to reveal 3 10mm bolts, loosen slightly and push down and re tighten, you should here a click when the lever is pulled.

If its gumed up with twenty year old oil gump it wont click. You can ajust the boot look and if that dont worl then you can also take out washers or add to the boot lid hoop

Hi guys, Well i put the lock mech back on and adjusted it by eye, a few goes later and before i knew it, i could here clicks by the key and the lever by the drivers seat. So there you have it, a few careful adjustments later and there it goes. Fixed.

So many thanks to you all for pointing me in the right direction.

You will probably find that your boot barrel has been changed at some point. Or that the ignition an door barrels have been changed but not the boot and they got bored changing them and couldn't be bothered changing that one.

Or that the lock mechanism has seized. Mine did exactly the same as yours. I took the lock barrel out, stripped it down, soaked in wd40. Put it back together with a bit of grease and it still works perfect two years later. There is a guide somewhere to stripping down the barrel, not on here I don't think. But don't remember it being too difficult. Good luck

Or the little rod from the barrel to the mechanism is off the plastic clip :thumbup1:
