Third brake light fitment question

as per title ive fitted the third brake light finally. and i was wondering is there a fitting difference, i know that the third brake light will fit all variations of the z32 but when was fitting it it only had one hole for the plastic clip!? which left me thinking wtf!! the strip has four clips and 4 screws to bolt down. i started thinking about drilling holes etc but ecventually after almost loosing hope and not fitting it i removed all 4 clips and bolted it place

its in place and looks miles better but its not as sturdy bewteen the the end screw and middle screw where the brake light is. and there is defo a gap between the boot lid and the perspex strip. if i pushed the clip in it would have warpped inwards which is why i took it out. is that how it is or is there some manufacture error on the car itself where there is only one hole in the boot? or what? its annoying me because its not a perfect fit!!:blink:

Should be 3 holes either side of the brakelight in the tailgate. Where those blue pads are should sit the white threaded blocks that you have at either corner. Also, do NOT over tighten as it wikk crack easily.

didnt have any except the one! and i have a tendency to over tighten ever thing!! wifey hates it she can never get the bottles open lol! that said i did take precaution to not over tight it.

Unfortunately, you will have to drill out the extra holes and file the cutouts to the same square shape as the others to utilise all the fastening points.

I think the n/a must have had a different bootlid to the TT as I had the same problem.

so does that mean my boot lid had been replaced at some point or was it just how its made with one freaking clip hole! and i dont think that drilling a hole will make it fit in place, its in place dont get me wrong and just by looking at it its looks perfect but if i push my finger into the strip it bends inwards and first i tried pushing the one clip in place but it looked as is it would have cracked. maybe some foam tape would give it some support?

Yours is a TT bootlid as I see you have removed the spoiler? The n/a wasn't always fitted with a spoiler so had the Perspex strip fitted. Each of the raised sections on your strip should have a mounting point (the same as the 2 outer points. They then push in through the square holes in your bootlid, but as yours doesn't have all 6? holes in the boot, you will need to make them. Your only other option is to bond it in but then you're buggered if you need to remove it to change a bulb etc!

yup removed the tumour and i cant figure out why they would just make one flipping clip hole. think ill drill holes in that case,
