Decision to remove veilside kit and return to Original......

Well after a lot of thinking over the past few months I have made the decision to return my Z to it's original state asap.........

The full veilside kit is going...... (Stop grinning Si!).........lol

As this is the anniversary of the Z and I want to keep mine for a long while.... I want it back to showroom condition...... so I will be fitting standard bumpers, smoothing off the bootlid (No spoilers) and removing side skirts....

I keep looking at FunkySi's clean example of a Z and realised mine now needs a full respray asap....

I have got older and now want a more standard clean look...... Even the colour is going to change..... Not sure what colour yet as the original was Silver......

This will probably be when the car comes off the road at the end of 2014 and I have saved up for the bodywork to be done and new Garage is built to house her.....

But Decision is now made......

Thanks for that Andrew..... Now I want the book after reading that......lol

I have narrowed it down to 2 colours I like.....

Brickyard AX8 or Beryllium Pearl Metallic ........

Both look amazing under US lighting conditions but not sure how they would look under our UK cloudy skies.....lol

Brickyard is quite nice, but the other is brown! Brown!?!?!?!? Blurgh! Terrible under UK skies IMO. I am not really much of a fan of it under sunny skies. If you want that sort of dark earthy colour, then how about a really deep burgundy colour. At least if you were driving under cloudy skies you'd not get branded 'the flying turd'. I think Brickyard looks a little brown-like under UK skies. Brown should NEVER be a consideration for an automotive colour.

You might be better off with midnight purple?

Almost like midnight purple. I guess I like brickyard.

But the other one which is actually owned by a friend of mine (Steven)...aka mclarenf1kid from 3ZC....

.... is now a horrible brown colour and sporting goofy offset wheels and a dreary front bumper. It used to be so nice, but he kept changing it to try and keep up with 'trends' and ruined it in the process. It once looked like this: Sticker-disease aside, it was a great looking car.

Wow that used to look nice Si ..... I prefer the old wheels and colour......

I am leaning toward the midnight Purple....... but still like the AX8 Brickyard, but I think it will be a bit dull looking in the UK weather .....

I am going to go and talk to the guy who sprayed my car last time and get a quote for spraying it if I do all the stripping and most of the prep work for him....... just need to get hold of front and rear bumpers, fog lights, tailgate panel that is missing under my boot spoiler, oem style boot spoiler, and some way to cover the sill damage when I remove my side skirts as they are covering some accident damage from years ago......

Oh and new set of alloy wheels...... Lotto ticket time ........ lol

Also mate - and I do know they are a bit of a trek from Essex - why not speak to Alan and Daz at Bodymech? If I was having a full respray done, that's where I'd be looing at going....

I have something to say............ It's better to burn out than to fade away..... :tt2:

Just going to throw some thoughts into this thread about kits. Most of us are not a fan of body kits and the 300zx's with kits are getting fewer and fewer. I can now hear some of you saying this is good for the 300zx scene but when these kits like Veilside get rarer then I believe they will become more in demand and they are part of the heritage of the 300zx and it would be a shame just to have pictures of them. So there you are my thoughts and opinions on body kits.

Thanks Gary.... Don't get me wrong, I still love the kit and would love to keep her on my Z and store her in a garage somewhere for the future..... But I can't afford another Z, currently have no garage that I can get a car into and am getting old and looking at the stock look and liking it more and more...... lol

I would love a 2nd Z, so I can strip it and start from a bare shell and go to town on a proper restoration project.....

I was thinking for getting the bodykit stored in my loft and then digging it out in 20 years.......lol..... might be rare and worth some money then......lol

Funky Si might even like them by then........:tt2:.....lol

You keep the kit stored away mate and when you read this thread in ten years time (or less) you can tell us how valuable it now is.

i really like that colour and think its close to my brothers aston and also think that that colour suites the shape too, if i had a standard shell i would be extreamly tempted to paint my car that colour and dont think its dated and will always look cool and classy.
