sitting here watching the news talking about the dangers of being on a bike, the fact that deaths and accidents are on the up, and saying they need this other device fitted to warn drivers of thier wereabouts only to cut to some film of local traffic lights where not one not two but three cycles ran solid red lights. i think for a start they should pay more attention to the road and thier spacial awareness and should be charged like anyone else on a bike and in a car. rant over.

Completely agree........ Highway code and same laws for Bikes, Cars, Cycles, etc.....

Nice Rant......lol

Watching my Z disintegrate on my driveway!!!

Highway code + general rant

* Tossers sat in the middle lane overtaking nothing but cats eyes

* Tossers driving around with their mirrors folded in - how can you do this? It's like walking around with your shoelaces undone and your fly open.

* Tossers driving around with their rear wiper going....when it's not even raining - shows up their mirror usage

* Tossers who fail to negotiate a roundabout correctly - it's not difficult. In fact it's piggin' easy. If it's so easy, then why the feck do you get into the wrong lane and cut people up EVEN WHEN THERE ARE FECKIN ARROWS ON IT!

* Tossers who throw litter out of their car windows - a trait of bad breeding, but why throw litter onto the roads etc? It's easier to do it when you get home - muppets.

Plenty of shit drivers out there!

Yeah, that or slowly, very slowly starts to edge past.

I've always wanted to make up little placards that I can flash at other motorists - "Why are you in the middle lane?" is one that would get used the most I think. Drives me up the bloody wall!

This is why I love france and spain..... they get in inside lane and only pop out to overtake..... they got something right there..... lol

How about the tossers on country roads who sit at 45mph no matter whether they are on a NSL road, or going through a 30 limit village?

Or the tossers who do 35 round anything vaguely looking like a bend on a country road, but then accelerate to 80 on a straight to ensure you are unable to get past them.

Yeah I'm with you on that, Europe in general is a much better place to drive. For some reason over here, half the driver population think they are invincible when they are behind the wheel. Sometimes I would really like to put the invincibility to the test!

Agreed. I absolutely LOVE driving in Europe. I think the extra space helps, but French roads for example are almost billiard-smooth and more often than not, have light traffic only on them. The French actually know how to drive. I don't really enjoy driving in the UK. Roads are narrow, heavily congested, poorly surfaced, driven on by incompetent motorists.

My parents live in rural France, you actually see people indicate move to the outside lane and retain the signal till they finish the manicure which was to overtake, in the overtaking lane. Not the "fast lane"

In contrast my partners father lives in Leon, worst standard if driving ever. Parking distance sensors are just the bumpers. The lack of respect for other peoples property is appalling.

I think the main issue here is the roads are actually TOO safe! It makes people lazy and complacent. With that comes stupidity.

That's a good point there, too safe......maybe?? It's also good that the French keep their indicators going. I also like the fact that when I drive down to Narbonne every year, all the road works seem to be done at night! Yeah, I think we could learn a thing or two. Not too sure about Paris though. I had a nightmare in the ZED in an underground car park, but that's another story, it was like a scene from Topgear.

Anyone see this yesterday.....

http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-2546709/Moment-Audi-passenger-got-car-PUNCHED-cyclist-pushing-bike-taxi-shocking-act-road-rage.html

TBH, I am leaning towards the side of the Audi driver on this occasion....!! Sure, he moved into the cycle box - and these infuriate me in London as it just serves to slow down the traffic. However some people should mind their own business - and as soon as the lights change, the Audi is gone; and has harmed no-one.... But oh no - Mr busybody cyclist has to chase the Audi and shout f***ing p***k at the driver; despite making the effort to shout at him the first time...:nono:

I do not condone violence and, personally, I would have just ignored the cyclist - but these days some cyclists can be so damn self righteous and anti-car; so did he deserve it?

And before anyone thinks I am just another arrogant motorist, I only said "some" cyclists - and I mean those (few) with double standards; who will run a red light and still expect 1.5 tonnes of metal to be able to stop on a sixpence when they weave in and out of the traffic on a bike, yet get the arse when a car driver senses the lights about to change, so he attempts an early manoeuvre around the bikes so as to get on his way!!

Shocking act of road rage? Yes - but I think both parties are to blame and not just the chap in the Audi. This time:wink:

I have something to say............ It's better to burn out than to fade away..... :tt2:

People who drive faster than 30mph in residential roads...makes me want to break bones:cursing:

people who turn left but come out on the right side to do it...makes me want to break the remaining intact bones:cursing:

As do the Germans on the Autobahn.... On those few stretches where there is no speed limit, the slower drivers are always mindful that there might be an AMG or M-powered beast tearing up at 300km/h behind them. Hence they observe and get out of the way accordingly....

....Not here though; yes, we have a 70mph speed limit; but come on, if you are pootling along in lane 3 at 71mph in your Meriva with lane 2 (or even 1) empty for 1/2 a mile ahead and a sports car of any kind is approaching at 100mph, GET OUT OF THE WAY!! It's the police's job to enforce speed limits not you!!! That is the problem here - petty bloody mindedness or jealousy; yes, Mr Sports Car is breaking the law but it is none of Mr Meriva's business.....

It's not just common courtesy, it is lane discipline.....!!

Yes....And yes.....

I am always tailgated by MPVs through towns and villages because I stick to 30mph.... But when I reach the open road and accelerate away, they are way behind me at the constant 42mph they always drive at; no matter what the conditions:no:

in the offshore oil and gas industry being to safe is a major killer because people become complacent and complacency is were you do the same thing everyday ,routine , you check then you check again but your so used to checking the same thing, your so used to doing the same thing or doing the same acton so much so your not using your ears or eyes anymore. they recone that when we listen to someone our brains are only taken in about 15 percent of information and thats when we think or tell ourselfs were listening . so to mix it up and keep us on our toes they come up with ongoing ideas and procedures that keep us focused on what we do .

People driving with their fog lights on when its not foggy - grrr!

Aaaargh - that too.......

Actually I think all the issues we are referring to boil down to one simple thing. Observation and awareness!!

So we might just as well say "Everyone who drives with their head stuffed up their bottom, so they simply cannot comprehend what else is going on around them!!!"

situation awareness is the abillity to see with your eyes and not just look? we often look at somthing but do not see. same as said, we here but do not listen

Exactly that. So many people get in the car and drive from a to b without any thought outside thier safe box. The thing is 99% of the time they get away with it.

I've maintained for a long time speed does not kill, not devoting adequate attention to the task in hand is what kills. Sometimes that adequate attention is it's pissing it down or too busy to be going that fast. That's not a case of driving fast equals accidents, it's a case of not applying yourself properly.

If I'm totally honest with myself, in general. If I get caught speeding I wasn't paying enough attention to be speeding to start with esp if it's by a static yellow box on a pole for christs sake. It's though but it's honest.

We could just let nature solve these problems the way intended? Or are we a bit soft in te head for that and need babysitting.

We could indeed - Darwin had his "survival of the fittest" theory; but in these days of (so-called) equality, it just does not do to think like that anymore...

when i drive i drive to the conditions of the road. just because theres an natonal speed limit on the rd doesnt mean i drive at 59 mph in that zone . i have got at the moment dodgy shocks so i no i cant speed as i would somtimes like. i do however drive at the speed limit in built up areas and espeacally schools. i also dont overtake on blind bends nor were theres junctions or houses close together cas you never know what comes out pepoles drive ways whilst your on the other side of the rd of witch u are legally entitled to be when driving. always read the road ahead and plan.. C.A.T. on my advance driving course i done years ago. C consertration. A antisiibation and finnaly T for tolerence, be nice guys only kill him if he hurts ur zed.

My massive pet hate is with cyclists, I'm sorry to anyone that is a cyclist on here but someone please tell me why (and if I'm wrong I'll hold my hands up).... Why, do cyclists think it's ok to ****ing undertake cars in slow moving traffic, or traffic coming up to a mini roundabout?? If a motorbike did this they would get done for driving without due car and attention (I know because I did the same thing and got done!!) or driving without lights. And why the hell done they have to pay insurance!?!?! Who pays if they cause an accident?? Ridiculous and a complete farse!

People that overtake learner drivers make my piss boil too, on generally roads I mean of course. Today I saw a learner don't 20 in a 20 zone, obviously, then someone in front of me decides he's king of the Tarmac and overtakes! :asshole::xxx::xxx:

i dislike it when i have cruise control on, and when i overtake someone they feel the need to match my speed as if we are in a drag race...nothing too serious but i want to push them off the road...
