have hids fitted as dipped beam wondered i its poss to fit a set for main beam or is it not viable any advice please

Yeah I did and soon took them out. if you flashed some one to go they wouldn't see the light, when driving at night they took to long to light up proper pita then you got a funny Haze and made it worse imo. if the air was slightly damp it was awful.

 

Just get some decent 100w bulbs

No need for HIDs in main beam in my opinion.

For the small amount of time you actually use them, good quality H1 bulbs in there will be more than adequate.

cheers lads what h1 do you recommend then the ones that are in always give a yellowish tinge or is that down to the reflectors in the headlight

Yup - HIDs in the main beam are pointless.... Although it is worth doing the "earth" modification so that the dipped stay on when you switch to mains...:cool:

Agreed; those or Osram Nightbreaker Plus bulbs. Forget the so-called "HID tinted" or "blue" bulbs - they are crap.... The Philips or Osrams are whiter than normal bulbs, but still a bit yellow when compared to HIDs; however they have been proven in every test to give out a superior light pattern than all other halogen bulbs.

 

And ABD (in Lexx's link) also sells the Osrams - so just buy whichever one is cheaper at the time. They are both as good as each other...:wink:

In the tech section, basically allowing the dipped beam to stay on when using main beam :thumbup:

 

Easy quick solution is to ground to earth one side of the hid feed (ground/earth) and although they will come on when you flash, they will stay on with main beam on.
